Job description

Powered By The Sun – Solar Consultant Position

Commission Only  |  $0–$300K, Entirely Based on Your Effort  |  Ventura County & Los Angeles, Local Candidates Only

About Powered By The Sun

Powered By The Sun is a residential and commercial solar brokerage, focused on Ventura County and Los Angeles. As a broker, we work across multiple platform partners rather than being locked into one company's product line.

How We're Different

Most solar companies sell one product, whatever deal is active that quarter — and once the commission is collected, that's the end of the relationship. We do it differently: you work for the customer, not a quota, matching each homeowner to the platform and financing that actually fits them. That's how you build long-term client relationships and repeat referrals, instead of one-and-done transactions.

The Role & Compensation

This is a 100% commission, 1099 independent contractor positionno base, no draw, no ceiling. We're direct up front: we do not hand you leads. What we provide is real coaching, lead-generation training, and the tools to build a pipeline that's yours.

Realistic earnings range from $0 to $300,000+ annually, entirely based on what you put in. We'll be straight with you in the interview about what activity level drives what results.

What You'll Do

•       Meet with homeowners and, where relevant, commercial property owners to assess energy needs

•       Recommend the right platform, product, and financing structure for that specific customer — not a one-size-fits-all pitch

•       Build and manage your own pipeline using the lead-generation systems we train you on, including a weekly live Zoom Q&A and ready-to-use scripts

•       Present proposals, handle objections, and close — with our team supporting design, contracts, and installation coordination behind you

•       Maintain consistent communication with clients from signed contract through PTO (Permission to Operate)

Who We Want

•       Experience in commission-only sales

•       Background in home improvement, roofing, solar, or a comparable high-consideration in-home sale

•       Proven ability to generate your own pipeline — referrals, networking, door-knocking, or B2B

•       Coachable and consistent

•       Reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license

•       Local to Ventura County or Los Angeles County, or already willing and able to commute here consistently — this is not a remote role

•       HIS registration — if you don't already have one, you must be willing to obtain it. You can still generate leads and earn in the meantime, since sales close under Kerry's existing registration

•       Bilingual (English/Spanish)

None of the above are hard requirements to apply — they're what a strong fit looks like. Not required, but highly preferred.

If you're ready to sell with more tools instead of one fixed product, apply today.
