Infrastructure Engineer-Terraform/DevOps Platform Engineer

The individual in this role is responsible for designing and delivering infrastructure tools and services that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards, and policies. Operating within a platform engineering team, this role focuses on building and evolving a self-service ย platform that enables internal technology teams to deploy and operate services securely, consistently, and efficiently in a regulated financial environment.

They are a key contributor to the creation of reusable infrastructure services, Terraform modules, and automated delivery pipelines, ensuring integration into a cohesive platform offering. The role facilitates the deployment of technical solutions by developing templates, golden paths, playbooks, and automation used during implementation.

This individual continuously seeks opportunities to improve the reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience of the platform and embraces a culture that drives innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

โ€ข ย  ย Assist in translating business and platform requirements into technical definitions, reference architectures, Terraform modules, and reusable platform patterns, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and policies.

โ€ข ย  ย Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to provision ย services in a scalable, consistent, and compliant manner, including module development, versioning, and environment strategies.

โ€ข ย  ย Contribute to the development of a self-service platform, creating standardized โ€œgolden pathsโ€ and templates that enable internal teams to deploy infrastructure safely and efficiently.

โ€ข ย  ย Develop and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including validation, security scanning, and controlled infrastructure deployments.

โ€ข ย  ย Embed security-by-design principles into platform services, ensuring secure defaults through implementation of IAM best practices, encryption standards, and secure network architectures.

โ€ข ย  ย Support implementation of governance and guardrails, ensuring infrastructure complies with internal security, risk, and regulatory requirements within a financial services environment.

โ€ข ย  ย Develop software and automation solutions to eliminate manual processes and improve platform usability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

โ€ข ย  ย Assist in the evaluation and adoption of third-party tools and ย services, ensuring they align with platform standards, security requirements, and long-term strategy.

โ€ข ย  ย Collaborate with Technical Analysts, Infrastructure Engineers, and application teams to ensure solutions integrate effectively with the platform and comply with engineering standards.

โ€ข ย  ย Contribute to the definition and evaluation of functional and non-functional requirements for platform services, including security, scalability, performance, and resilience.

โ€ข ย  ย Leverage AI/ML services to accelerate platform development, including enhancing automation, improving developer experience, and enabling intelligent tooling and workflows.

โ€ข ย  ย Develop and maintain Python-based automation and tooling (e.g. AWS Lambda-based workflows) to support platform capabilities and reduce manual operational effort.

โ€ข ย  ย Contribute to building event-driven and serverless platform components using ย services to improve scalability and responsiveness.

โ€ข ย  ย Support implementation of secure and scalable network architectures, ensuring alignment with cloud security and regulatory requirements.

โ€ข ย  ย Act as a subject matter contributor within ย Terraform, and platform engineering practices, supporting internal teams adopting platform capabilities.

โ€ข ย  ย Contribute to observability and operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement of platform reliability and resilience.

โ€ข ย  ย Promote an inclusive and healthy working environment and help to resolve organizational impediments/blockers.

Required Qualifications

โ€ข Significant experience writing Hashicorp Terraform configurations and modules.

โ€ข Experience with Terraform Enterprise (TFE) tool for resource provisioning.

โ€ข Experience in DevOps and GitOps models with infra-as-code, config-as-code, policy-as-code, etc.

โ€ข Proficient in translating designs into fully developed Terraform code.

โ€ข Strong knowledge of cloud adoption framework etc.

โ€ข Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud security.

โ€ข Experience in enterprise-scale environments, building highly available IaaS and PaaS solutions

โ€ข Understanding of landing zones, cloud-native security, monitoring and logging tools, and Well-Architected Framework principals.

โ€ข Experience with containers related technologies and CICD tools โ€“ Jenkins, pipelines, container repos, etc.

โ€ข Experience in programming and infra-automation tools โ€“ Terraform, Ansible, Java, python, etc.

โ€ข Experience in Cloud logging, monitoring, and observability tools

โ€ข Proficient in at least one scripting language (i.e. Bash, Python).

โ€ข Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

โ€ข Excellent communication skills

โ€ข Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a global team

โ€ข Minimum of a 7-year degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

โ€ข Minimum 5+ years of Cloud Automation Engineer working experience
