• Conduct comprehensive assessments to gauge clients' emotional and psychological status, understanding their experiences and feelings related to their health conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that reflect the unique needs, aspirations, and life circumstances of each client, ensuring they align with our organization’s goals of compassionate care.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support clients in processing grief and anxiety.
• Provide education and support to patients and families, sharing coping strategies that enhance quality of life during palliative care.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes while adhering to ethical and legal standards.
• Engage frequently with a team of hospice professionals—including physicians, social workers, and nursing staff—to coordinate integrated care and improve patient outcomes.
• Stay informed on the latest research and developments in mental health, particularly within the context of palliative care, to enhance therapeutic modalities employed in treatment.
• Participate in regular supervision and team meetings to discuss case dynamics, share insights, and continue professional development.
• Advocate for clients’ mental health needs, working toward reducing the stigma surrounding end-of-life care and mental health challenges.

You will engage primarily with hospice patients facing terminal illnesses, and their families who require emotional and psychological support through one of life’s most challenging transitions. This role emphasizes the importance of understanding grief, loss, and the impact of chronic illness on mental health.

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington.
• Three years of experience in the mental health field with a focus on treatment strategies that address mood disorders in vulnerable populations.
• Demonstrable knowledge of psychopharmacology and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency in delivering evidence-based therapeutic techniques tailored to meet the needs of individuals during end-of-life care.
• Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate compassion, empathy, and effective communication with clients from diverse backgrounds.

• Experience in a hospice or palliative care setting.
• Familiarity with alternative therapies that complement traditional mental health treatments.
• Two years of post-licensure experience with a focus on managing grief, anxiety, and complex mood disturbances.
