Summary
About the Position: Employee serves as the Chief of Military Programs and Project Management Branch for Savannah District Office. This position is responsible for the vertical and horizontal integration products to produce the Military projects and manage the program for the district.

  • Serves as the Chief of Military Programs and Project Management Branch, responsible for vertical and horizontal integration to produce military projects and manage the program for the district.
  • Manages all aspects of military programs and project management, ensuring development of project scope, budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies in keeping with program goals.
  • Establishes and monitors District objectives to meet goals for various military programs (Congressional, OSD, HQUSACE, etc.) and is responsible for the schedule, budget, and cost controls of the program.
  • Plans and assigns work to subordinates, determines schedules, evaluates performance, advises on administrative matters, and identifies training needs.
  • Manages the District's military reimbursable program, ensuring that accepted and funded projects are executed in keeping with overall program objectives and that there is adequate contract capacity.
  • Ensures customer expectations and Corps performance potential are compatible by identifying customer options, ensuring customer-care prevails, and using quality design and construction techniques.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Serving as a senior project manager or technical expert for large-scale, complex military construction projects, involving vertical and horizontal integration across multiple technical disciplines.
2) Applying expert knowledge of management concepts and project management principles to oversee all project phases from master planning and design to construction, cost control, and operations.
3) Exercising supervisory duties such as assigning and evaluating work, managing personnel, and implementing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles.
4) Developing and managing project budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies to meet program objectives.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13 or above).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
