Job Description for E-commerce Engineer
We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Software Development team to evaluate, assess, and recommend the best eCommerce solutions that align with our organisation's diverse needs. This role involves conducting in-depth assessments of available eCommerce tools, identifying their potential to enhance various business functions, and ensuring the tools meet our scalability, performance, and security requirements. Our solutions require someone with versatile knowledge in multiple domains. You will be responsible for analysing different eCommerce platforms and solutions to determine how they can address specific use cases, improve processes, and deliver measurable value to the organisation.
Major Responsibilities:
• Research and identify leading eCommerce tools and platforms that align with business goals and use cases.
• Evaluate eCommerce tools based on key criteria such as cost, ease of use, customization options, scalability, integration capabilities, security, and compliance.
• Conduct pilot tests and simulations to evaluate tool effectiveness in solving current pain points and supporting future needs.
• Prioritize and recommend tools based on the complexity, feasibility, and alignment with the organization's short- and long-term goals.
• Designs, modifies, and implements distributed compute clusters and services for Ecommerce product based on epics and user stories using PHP, NodeJS, and/or AWS Technologies.
• Creates clear, simple, and reusable frontend and backend code.
• Creates and maintain various test applications to ensure Continuous Integration & Deployment of our Ecommerce application software.
• Maintains the developed software efficiently through solid knowledge of software lifecycles.
• Documents designs in engineering documents including functional block diagrams, data/logic flow charts, and UML.
• Support and troubleshoot issues, identify cause, and proactively recommend sustainable corrective actions.
• Be effective and comfortable with minimum supervision.
• Take ownership of solution components.
Must Have Technical Skill Requirements
• 8+ years of software development experience
• Experience in developing a commercial software product or SaaS.
• 2-4 years of experience in evaluating, implementing, or managing eCommerce platforms or tools.
• Strong knowledge of eCommerce systems, platforms, and technologies (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, etc.).
• Familiarity with key business use cases in eCommerce such as product management, customer experience, order fulfillment, payment processing, promotions and campaigns etc.
• Experience conducting feasibility studies, ROI analysis, and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding and knowledge of SQL and other database technologies such as MongoDB, and/or Redis.
• Proficiency in NodeJS, web stacks, libraries, and frameworks.
• Strong API development experience and exposure to various formats such as REST Open API.
• Hands on experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash.
• Experience working with Git version control, and familiar with GitLab.
• Experience working with Static Code Analysis tools.
• Experience in developing and deploying applications in one or more cloud technology platforms (Azure, Google, AWS).
• Familiarity with Docker.
Education or Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related field. Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years of full-stack web development experience.
• 4+ years of Production NodeJS experience.
• Working knowledge of Avionics industry is a plus.
