Job Title: Tax Manager
Job Description
This full-time, fully remote Tax Manager role is based within the continental United States, with a preference for candidates located in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area. The position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in regulated environments and taking ownership of complex compliance, statutory reporting, and control functions. You will play a key role in supporting financial reporting accuracy, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and scalability as the organization continues to grow. Rather than focusing solely on close cycles and reconciliations, you will partner closely with leadership, external auditors, tax advisors, and cross-functional teams to drive statutory accounting, regulatory filings, tax oversight, audit coordination, and internal control improvements across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Manage statutory and GAAP financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate filings across regulated jurisdictions.
- Oversee external audits and regulatory reporting requirements, including coordination of deliverables, timelines, and remediation efforts.
- Support federal, state, and international tax compliance in partnership with external advisors, including state and local tax (SALT), transfer pricing, and other complex tax initiatives.
- Maintain and improve compliance frameworks by tracking filing requirements and resolving gaps across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead internal control initiatives and remediation efforts to strengthen financial reporting accuracy and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and complex accounting transactions.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner directly with senior accounting leadership and cross-functional teams on initiatives that influence the broader organization.
- Ensure audit readiness and support continuous improvement of processes related to statutory reporting, tax, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation or active CPA track strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience in insurance, public accounting, or another highly regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing audits, regulatory filings, tax compliance, and internal controls.
- Hands-on experience with tax provision, SALT, and statutory reporting.
- Ability to navigate complex accounting issues using strong analytical skills and sound professional judgment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as insurance or public accounting environments.
- Demonstrated success partnering with external auditors and tax advisors on complex compliance and reporting matters.
- Background in designing or enhancing compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience leading or contributing to internal control improvement and remediation initiatives.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop accounting team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Comfort operating in a growth-oriented environment that values precision, ownership, and continuous process enhancement.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, fully remote position based within the continental United States, offering flexibility while maintaining strong connection to a collaborative accounting and finance team. The role reports into senior accounting leadership and includes oversight of direct reports, providing opportunities for leadership and mentorship. You will work extensively with modern accounting systems and advanced Excel tools in a regulated, audit-focused environment. The culture emphasizes accountability, precision, sound judgment, and continuous improvement, with regular interaction with leadership, external auditors, tax advisors, and cross-functional partners on meaningful and technically complex accounting and compliance initiatives.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
