Job description

REMOTE TAX Manager - immediate opening!

We are looking for an experienced corporate tax leader to guide income and transaction tax activities for an established company based in Virginia. This role is responsible for directing tax reporting, supporting financial statement disclosures, and helping the business navigate complex regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work closely with external advisors and internal stakeholders to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant tax operations.


Responsibilities:

• Direct federal, state, and local tax reporting activities, ensuring filings, provisions, and supporting schedules are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Coordinate with outside tax firms and other advisors to provide documentation, address questions, and review completed returns and tax analyses.

• Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, related journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement disclosures.

• Evaluate business activities and transactions to determine tax consequences, communicate risks, and recommend appropriate treatment.

• Administer income tax depreciation records within Oracle, including methodology oversight, calculation review, and forecast support.

• Manage audit and notice response activity for income, sales and use, property, and other transaction taxes while maintaining organized supporting documentation and control procedures.

• Oversee exemption certificate administration, pass-through tax filings, unclaimed property reporting, property tax support, and required payment scheduling such as estimates and extensions.

• Monitor changes in tax law and industry-specific requirements, including telecommunications tax considerations, and advise management on operational impact.

• Identify opportunities to improve reporting workflows, strengthen internal controls, and leverage technology or AI-based solutions to increase efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, including provision work and multi-jurisdictional compliance.

• CPA highly desired

• Strong knowledge of corporate income tax, annual tax provision processes, and transaction taxes such as sales and use tax.

• Experience working with accounting platforms such as Oracle and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for modeling and analysis.

• Familiarity with tax compliance and provision software, along with the ability to research and interpret tax regulations.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and updates to management.

• Highly organized individual who can manage competing priorities and work proactively with minimal oversight.
