Proficiency in tax research databases (such as CCH, Thomson Reuters, or Bloomberg Tax), tax preparation software, and advanced Excel skills is typically required. Remote tax research professionals often encounter challenges such as staying updated with frequently changing tax laws, managing time effectively without in-person supervision, and accessing reliable resources for complex tax issues. To overcome these challenges, it's essential to establish a structured daily routine, utilize reputable online tax databases, and maintain regular communication with colleagues through virtual meetings or chat platforms. Additionally, participating in professional tax forums and ongoing training can help keep knowledge current and foster collaboration in a remote environment.
