Job description

At NorthBay Health the Surgical Technologist II is responsible for the delivery of patient care to assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed professional nurse. The Surgical Technologist II works as a team member with the primary function as the "scrub person" in the surgical suite and other clinical areas. The Surgical Technologist II provides specialized resources to the nursing department and Patient Care Services Division through their role as a service lead providing education, case consultation or other program services on an ongoing basis. The technologist may be assigned other functions as permitted by the hospital policy. 

The Surgical Technologist II works as a service lead for a specialty surgical service. These services are including but not limited to:

  • Cardiovascular Surgery

A Surgical Technologist II service lead, will work with the Clinical Nurse service lead to ensure:

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

Education: 

  • High School Graduate. Graduate of Approved Surgical Technologist program required.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current certification in basic CPR through American Heart Association. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum one-year acute care operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist required. Trauma II experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique, safe use and care of surgical instruments and equipment, knowledge of various in-patient surgical procedures. Basic windows computer skills required.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Good communication skills; works as a team member.
  • Actively engages in and supports a culture based on NorthBay Way principles.
