Job description

Associate Clinical Specialist

Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST) develops and delivers an integrated ecosystem of spinal implants, navigation and robotic guidance systems, advanced imaging, and data-driven planning tools that support complex spine and cranial procedures. The Surgical Synergy portfolio combines enabling technologies and procedural solutions designed to support surgical precision, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes.

The Associate Clinical Specialist will support the adoption and clinical utilization of Medtronic's Surgical Synergy portfolio, including spinal implants, navigation, robotics, imaging, and enabling technologies. This role is responsible for providing clinical and technical support to customers, supporting procedures in the operating room, conducting product demonstrations, and helping drive procedural excellence and customer satisfaction across the assigned territory.

This position is based in Chennai, India and is designated as a remote role, with approximately 50 percent travel required to support customer engagement, clinical activities, training, and business development.

In this role, you will work closely with the sales, marketing, service, education, and clinical teams to support customer needs and increase the effective use of Surgical Synergy technologies. You will provide pre-sale and post-sale clinical support, assist in technical presentations, support hands-on training, and help ensure successful procedural adoption within hospitals and healthcare systems.

You will be expected to build strong relationships with surgeons, operating room staff, hospital administrators, and internal stakeholders while maintaining a high level of professionalism, product knowledge, and clinical credibility.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Deliver clinical and technical demonstrations of navigation, O-arm, robotics, and related surgical technologies to prospective and existing customers.
  • Provide operating room support during procedures and assist customers with product utilization, workflow integration, and clinical adoption.
  • Conduct product presentations, clinical discussions, and hands-on training programs for surgeons, operating room staff, and hospital stakeholders.
  • Partner with sales teams to support product evaluations, customer conversions, account development activities, and territory growth objectives.
  • Coordinate demonstration logistics, equipment readiness, and consumable planning with sales, service, and clinical stakeholders.
  • Document customer interactions, demonstrations, training activities, and follow-up actions in Salesforce on a daily basis.
  • Monitor customer feedback, competitive activity, product developments, and market trends and communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Support workshops, conferences, educational programs, and internal training initiatives by providing clinical and application expertise.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • High School Diploma and 6+ years, or Associate's Degree and 4+ years, or Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience in medical devices, MedTech, healthcare, life sciences, or a clinical customer-facing role.
  • Experience delivering product demonstrations, technical presentations, clinical training, or procedural support in a hospital, healthcare, or operating room environment.
  • Experience supporting customer accounts, product adoption activities, or territory development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry compliance, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Spine, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, or operating room-based clinical procedures.
  • Experience with navigation systems, robotics platforms, O-arm imaging, neuro-monitoring, or related surgical technologies.
  • Prior experience in a clinical specialist, applications specialist, pre-sales support, or customer education role.
  • Experience collaborating with surgeons, hospital administrators, operating room staff, and cross-functional healthcare stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, evaluate market dynamics, and support competitive positioning through clinical and technical expertise.
