Summary

We are representing a highly respected and growing commercial construction general contractor with a strong presence throughout Southern California. Our client specializes in delivering high-quality ground-up construction projects across a diverse range of commercial sectors, including financial institutions, healthcare facilities, religious organizations, education, and other complex commercial developments. Known for their commitment to quality, integrity, and long-term client relationships, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
This is a remote-based position for candidates located anywhere in Southern California, with occasional travel to project sites as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ground-up commercial construction, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, and financial reporting.
  • Review and manage project contracts, scopes of work, subcontracts, purchase orders, and procurement activities.
  • Oversee all project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, pay applications, and closeout packages.
  • Collaborate closely with Superintendents and field teams to ensure proper execution of project schedules, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Conduct owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings and provide consistent project updates to leadership and clients.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to scheduling, costs, labor, or design conflicts.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, contract compliance, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards, local building codes, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in project buyout, value engineering efforts, and preconstruction planning when needed.
  • Foster strong client relationships that contribute to repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Mentor and support Assistant Project Managers or other junior team members as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a commercial general contractor.
  • Demonstrated success managing ground-up commercial construction projects from start to finish.
  • Experience with projects such as banks, healthcare facilities, churches, educational institutions, office buildings, or similar commercial developments strongly preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with subcontractor buyout, contract negotiations, and procurement management.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Excel, and related platforms.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of Southern California building codes, permitting processes, and local construction market conditions preferred.
  • OSHA certification and/or additional industry certifications (PMP, LEED, CCM, etc.) are a plus.
  • Must be able to travel periodically to project sites throughout Southern California.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Up to $145,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Healthcare stipends
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial construction professional seeking a long-term role with a reputable general contractor that values leadership, accountability, and excellence in project delivery.
