Our Client is hiring a Senior Substation Engineer/ Project Engineer (remote)

Required:
  • Experience with renewable generation substation projects (from Early Stage through construction and commissioning);
  • Experience with FERC Order 1000 competitive transmission project proposals and greenfield substation projects;
  • Experience with engineering codes and standards applicable to substation design (IEEE, NESC, ASCE);
  • Experience with coordination of geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services;
  • Valid Driver's License (required);
  • Travel required within North America.

Preferred:
  • Experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects (6+ years);
  • Experience with interconnection documentation review, including system impact studies, facility studies, and interconnection agreements;
  • Experience with long lead material management and integrated supply chain processes;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure;
  • Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt, Green Belt, or Yellow Belt certification);
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural engineering

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead all assigned renewable generation substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning, managing scope, schedule, budget, and resources;
  • Develop detailed work plans, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports; conduct project meetings and manage project tracking and analysis;
  • Provide technical oversight and due diligence of external engineers of record (EOR) to ensure compliance with interconnection agreements, project specifications, and applicable industry codes and standards;
  • Competitively source, select, and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services through the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group;
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables in support of FERC Order 1000 proposals and design/construction of awarded projects, including Issued for Bid, Issued for Construction, and As-built drawings;
  • Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation and coordinate with transmission owners/operators/ISOs to ensure project deliverables meet requirements;
  • Create and communicate presentation materials for report-outs and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders, including management briefings on progress, issues, and risk mitigation;

  • Experience in Project Engineering and/or Project Management with a strong bias for action.
  • Experience in FERC Order 1000 and earlystage diligence substation RFPs, including coordination with Development and technical RFP narrative support;
  • Experience with seniorlevel technical leadership on substation projects, including EOR oversight/training and accountability for IEEE/NESC/ASCE code compliance;
  • Experience with commercial and ISC interfaces on substation projects, including SOW development, competitive bidding/awards, longlead material management, and support to estimating;
  • Travel required within North America.

Preferred:
  • Experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects (7+ years);
  • Experience with HVDC;
  • PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline;
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead all substation engineering activities for FERC 1000 RFPs and earlystage diligence projects, from concept through handoff to execution;
  • Provide technical oversight, training, and due diligence for external Engineers of Record (EORs) to ensure designs meet scope, quality, and utility standards;
  • Own substation code and standard compliance, including IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and other applicable industry requirements for all assigned projects;
  • Define scopes of work, secure and evaluate bids, and award engineering and related services in partnership with the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) team;
  • Manage longlead substation materials, including specification input, order oversight, and coordination with ISC to minimize schedule and cost risk;
  • Support commercial and regulatory activities, including technical RFP narrative development and input to legal/regulatory filings as needed;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and OEMs to optimize substation designs, incorporate lessons learned, and provide feedback to estimating on scope and cost assumptions.
