Remote Striper information

What is a remote striper?

A remote striper is a professional responsible for painting or marking lines on roads, parking lots, or other surfaces using specialized equipment, while working remotely or traveling to different locations as needed. Their job typically involves operating striping machinery, ensuring accurate and high-quality markings, and following safety guidelines. Remote stripers may work for contractors, government agencies, or private companies to maintain and improve traffic flow and safety. The 'remote' aspect often refers to moving between job sites rather than working from home.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote striper, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Striper (Parking Lot Striper or Pavement Marking Technician), you need expertise in line striping techniques, attention to detail, and often a valid driver’s license or certifications for operating striping equipment. Familiarity with specialized striping machines, paint applicators, and layout measurement tools is typically necessary. Strong time management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients or team members set top performers apart. These skills ensure accurate, durable markings that meet safety standards and client specifications, even when working independently or off-site.

What are some common challenges faced by remote stripers in managing time and communication with clients?

Remote Stripers often face the challenge of balancing multiple projects and meeting client expectations across different time zones. Effective communication is key, as much of the coordination happens virtually, requiring clear updates and prompt responses to client inquiries. Staying organized with digital tools and proactively managing schedules can help ensure deadlines are met and clients remain satisfied. Building strong relationships remotely also demands a professional approach and regular check-ins to maintain trust and transparency.

Both roles may be performed remotely or on-site, but their industry applications and required skills differ significantly.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical revenue infrastructure within a fast-growing, engineering-driven environment.
You will design and evolve systems that power accurate usage tracking, billing, and customer transparency at scale.
The position sits at the intersection of backend engineering, payments, distributed systems, and product reliability.
You will influence technical direction, establish architectural standards, and help shape systems that directly impact customer trust.
Working with complex event-driven platforms, you will solve challenging engineering problems while improving scalability and resilience.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives on ownership, autonomy, and building solutions from the ground up.

Accountabilities

The role focuses on building and maintaining the core systems that support revenue operations, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and scalability as the platform grows.

  • Own and evolve metering infrastructure by designing, developing, and improving systems that accurately process billable events without delays, inconsistencies, or data loss.
  • Expand and optimize payment platform integrations, including subscription management, usage reporting, invoice workflows, webhook handling, and recovery processes for complex edge cases.
  • Build and maintain cloud marketplace integrations by managing reliable data flows between billing systems and major cloud provider entitlement platforms.
  • Develop customer-facing usage dashboards and forecasting capabilities that provide clear visibility into consumption, spending, and cost trends.
  • Improve billing monitoring, alerts, and notifications to proactively identify anomalies, unexpected usage patterns, and potential customer issues.
  • Define architectural patterns, engineering standards, and testing approaches that improve reliability and guide future development.
  • Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings deep backend engineering expertise, strong ownership capabilities, and experience building reliable systems that directly impact business operations and customer experience.

  • 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including significant ownership of production billing, payments, or metering systems.
  • Hands-on experience with payment infrastructure, including subscription management, webhooks, usage-based billing, reconciliation processes, and complex failure scenarios.
  • Strong proficiency in backend development, with experience in languages such as Go or Java considered a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale, with a strong understanding of reliability, consistency, performance, and failure handling.
  • A product-oriented mindset with the ability to understand how technical decisions influence customer trust, pricing accuracy, and business outcomes.
  • Staff-level engineering ownership, including the ability to identify systemic challenges, influence technical direction, and elevate engineering practices across teams.
  • Experience with cloud marketplace billing platforms, usage-based pricing models, observability technologies, or high-growth SaaS environments is considered a plus.
Benefits:

The company offers a flexible and impactful environment designed to support growth, ownership, and long-term success.

  • Competitive salary package with meaningful equity participation.
  • Flexible, remote-first working model with access to international office locations.
  • Monthly phone and internet allowance of 60.
  • Location-specific benefits tailored to employees' needs.
  • Collaborative culture focused on ownership, innovation, and building high-quality products.
  • Opportunities for career development and continued technical growth.
  • Direct exposure to leadership and the opportunity to influence important product and engineering decisions.
