Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer based in Netherlands.

As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain high-impact backend services that support secure and scalable digital financial solutions. You will take ownership of software components throughout the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to production operations. Working within a fully remote, international engineering environment, you will collaborate with talented professionals across different countries and disciplines. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges at the intersection of modern finance, blockchain technology, and cloud-based systems. You will contribute to products used by a global user base while continuously improving your skills through collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on experience. The position is ideal for engineers who are curious, proactive, and passionate about building reliable technology at scale.

Accountabilities:

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful products. You will contribute to technical decisions, improve engineering practices, and take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality backend services and applications.
  • Take ownership of software components from initial design through production monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Build secure, fault-tolerant, and scalable solutions designed to support large user bases.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions, including microservices, cloud-native solutions, and distributed systems.
  • Develop and maintain applications using modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Apply concepts such as Event-Driven Architecture and Domain-Driven Design to create maintainable systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and engineering processes.
  • Work within one of several business domains, including wealth management, financial crime prevention, customer acquisition and retention, or money movement solutions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a strong software engineering foundation, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and thrives in collaborative, remote environments. You should be comfortable learning new technologies and contributing to systems where security, reliability, and scalability are critical.

  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and experience with at least one programming language, preferably Python.
  • Experience with backend development and building reliable software solutions.
  • Basic understanding of microservices architecture, cloud-native patterns, and container-based applications.
  • Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and automated testing approaches.
  • Interest in modern software architecture concepts such as Event-Driven Architecture and Domain-Driven Design.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within distributed teams.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, experiment, and solve challenging problems.
  • Passion for technology and interest in the intersection of traditional finance and emerging digital assets.
  • Experience with technologies such as AWS, Docker, Python frameworks (Django, Flask), MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, Node.js, or similar tools is an advantage.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote position with the flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Opportunity to contribute to globally impactful technology products.
  • Flexible working schedule designed to support work-life balance.
  • Flexible paid time off to help you recharge when needed.
  • Collaborative environment with experienced engineers and opportunities for mentorship.
  • Annual learning and development budget for books, courses, conferences, and professional growth.
  • Opportunity to work with modern technologies across cloud infrastructure, backend systems, and financial technology.
  • International team environment with exposure to diverse perspectives and global challenges.
