As a Software Engineer in MiTek's Homebuilder division, you will help design, develop, modernize, and support MiTek Kova, a web-based ERP platform used by homebuilders throughout the United States. Kova's workflow-based approach helps homebuilders manage key business processes including sales, purchasing, construction scheduling, accounting, and customer-facing operations within a unified platform.
In this role, you will work closely with Software Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Architecture, and Customer-facing teams to deliver scalable, reliable software solutions that streamline operations, solve complex business challenges, and improve the customer experience for some of the nation's leading homebuilders.
This role will work a hybrid schedule based out of our office in Chesterfield, MO or Denver, CO.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, debug, document, and support software features within the Kova platform.
  • Independently design and implement small to medium-sized features, components, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Refactor existing code to improve performance, stability, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain web front-end, server-side, database, and API-based solutions.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning sessions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are efficient, consistent, supportable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Develop and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests to support software quality and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, analyze application behavior, and support timely resolution of customer-impacting defects.
  • Contribute to the modernization of legacy application areas while supporting ongoing development in the current Kova technology stack.
  • Follow generally accepted software development standards, secure coding practices, and team engineering practices.
  • Work in an Agile software development environment, participating in sprint planning, estimation, daily standups, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in software design and development using relevant technologies.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in place of degree requirements.
  • Experience with C#, .NET, or another object-oriented server-side programming language.
  • Experience with SQL Server, relational database design concepts, stored procedures, queries, and data troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of web development fundamentals including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser-based application behavior.
  • Familiarity with source control practices, preferably Git.
  • Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, or automated test coverage.
  • Understanding of debugging, logging, and troubleshooting techniques for web-based applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot root causes, and deliver practical solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with developers, QA analysts, product managers, architects, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated ownership, curiosity, accountability, and willingness to learn complex business domains.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ASP.NET, Web Forms, .NET Framework, and/or modern .NET.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Angular, React, or other modern front-end frameworks.
  • Experience developing or consuming REST APIs or service-based integrations.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, build/release pipelines, CI/CD, or automated deployment practices.
  • Experience with cloud or monitoring tools such as Azure, AWS, Application Insights, DataDog, or similar platforms.
  • Experience improving application performance, scalability, reliability, or maintainability.
  • Experience working with ERP, construction, accounting, scheduling, purchasing, sales, CRM, or other complex business workflow systems.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, API management, authentication/authorization concepts, and production support processes.
  • Experience developing enterprise, web-based, or business workflow applications preferred.
