Database Developer (SQL) Location: Remote Interview Process: 1 Round of Virtual Interviews Duration: 12 Months Employment Type: Contract Experience Required: 07+ Years Candidate location: No SC residency required. Open to Nationwide Candidates that are comfortable working EST Hours. Project Scope: Seeking an experienced Database Developer (SQL) to support critical public health data initiatives, including data warehouse modernization, data pipeline enhancements, disease surveillance system integrations, and electronic case reporting (eCR) solutions.

The consultant will play a key role in designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting complex database solutions, ETL processes, reporting systems, and data migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server, T-SQL development, ETL processes, SSIS, data warehousing, healthcare data integrations, and large-scale data management. This role requires close collaboration with database administrators, data integration teams, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain complex database solutions and data integration processes. Develop and optimize SQL stored procedures, advanced queries, and database performance. Design, build, and support ETL processes and data pipelines.

Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages. Support data warehouse initiatives, reporting solutions, and business intelligence requirements. Convert and modernize legacy data processes, including migration of SAS-based solutions.

Create and maintain process documentation, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications. Gather business requirements and perform gap analysis with stakeholders. Support disease surveillance systems, electronic case reporting (eCR), and healthcare data integrations.

Parse and process multiple data formats including XML, CSV, SOAP, and HL7 messages. Support data migrations, testing, validation, deployment, and post-production support activities. Monitor and troubleshoot production data processing and integration workflows.

Implement automation solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and data quality. Assist with data classification, security compliance, and regulatory requirements. Provide technical leadership, best practices, mentoring, and guidance to team members.

Collaborate with vendors, business users, and technical teams to deliver project objectives. Required Skills & Experience: 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL development. Strong expertise in stored procedures, advanced queries, debugging, and performance optimization.

3+ years of experience with ETL process development. 1+ year of experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 3+ years of experience with report development and reporting solutions.

3+ years of experience with data warehousing and relational database design. 1+ year of experience working with HL7 v2.x messaging standards, including ORU messages. 3+ years of experience processing XML and structured data formats

3+ years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher. Experience with healthcare data security requirements including HIPAA, PHI, PII, and related compliance standards. Strong experience in database troubleshooting, performance tuning, and process automation.

Preferred Skills: Experience managing and processing large-scale datasets exceeding 1TB. Requirements gathering, business analysis, and technical documentation experience. Public health, healthcare, or disease surveillance systems experience.

Experience with Statistical Analysis System (SAS). Knowledge of LOINC and SNOMED healthcare standards. Experience working with FASTQ files and demultiplexing processes.

Experience with R and RStudio. Familiarity with Electronic Disease Surveillance Systems (EDSS), eHARS, CDC reporting systems, or similar healthcare platforms. Experience with Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) integrations and workflows.

Power BI reporting and dashboard development experience. Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
