How You’ll Contribute:

 

The Principal Consultant, Sports Venues provides executive leadership spanning the full spectrum of sports venue audio, video, and broadcast technologies, providing strategic advisory, technical leadership, and client-facing thought leadership. This role guides clients through the end-to-end content lifecycle, from content capture, live and remote production, and postproduction workflows to master control, playout, and global distribution. Leveraging a unique blend of technical expertise and business strategy, the Principal Consultant partners with clients to modernize operations, accelerate digital transformation, and unlock new opportunities in an evolving media landscape.  

As Principal Consultant, you will shape the future of media by integrating production and distribution disciplines into a unified strategy. Your expertise will help global media organizations produce content more efficiently, distribute it more broadly, and monetize it more effectively, driving business growth and keeping audiences engaged in a rapidly evolving market. This position is a client-facing, billable consulting role with defined utilization targets and accountability for delivering high-quality advisory services.  

What You’ll Do:

Client Consultation & Advisory 

  • Serve as the thought leader and strategist for key clients, leading the ideation, design, integration, and operations across production environments and distribution ecosystems, advising clients on technology strategy, workflow optimization, and operational models.  
  • Architect live audio systems, production workflows, control rooms, studios, remote production, field acquisition, as well as, master control, playout automation, channel origination, and transmission ecosystems.  
  • Partner with senior stakeholders (CTOs, Heads of Engineering, Operations, and Distribution) to identify business challenges, design solutions, and deliver actionable roadmaps.  
  • Define holistic workflows and architectures that integrate production and distribution platforms, including IP, decentralized, and hybrid models, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and resilience. 
  • Act as the primary stakeholder on projects end-to-end, and own output artifacts associated with client deliverables and program insertions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with inherently scoped engagement objectives.  
  • Partner with Sales and Business Development associates to qualify opportunities, shape solutions, price, and author proposal narratives. 
  • Represent Diversified as a recognized expert, contributing to white papers, industry panels, and client briefings.  
  • Provide senior governance over engagements from inception to completion, monitoring progress and ensuring deliverables align with business outcomes, timelines, and budgets.  
  • Create custom solutions and strategies based on client requirements, participate in RFP conversations, client pitches, as well as quoting creative activities and budgets.  
  • Maintain an authoritative role versed in technology knowledge and vendor product offering, conducting market research and analysis to maintain competitive edge in support of practice growth.  
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, project management, and leadership teams, setting direction and accountability while ensuring operational excellence and quality assurance. 
  • Maintain organized documentation, timelines, and asset libraries.  
  • Mentor cross-functional teams of engineers and project leaders to elevate standards and expand capabilities.  

What You’ll Bring:

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, design, engineering, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in venue technologies, which may include audio systems, infrastructure architecture, networks, routing control, orchestration, control systems, playout automation, traffic systems, signal routing, quality control and monitoring, compliance logging, disaster recovery, and multi-platform content distribution. 
  • Deep experience with sports venue audio or video production projects.   
  • Demonstrated success advising executive stakeholders and leading enterprise-scale digital signage programs.  
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional creative projects in a client-facing authoritative role. 
  • Experience leading programs from concept to completion, running multiple content management projects, workflows, and budget under tight deadlines. 
  • Advanced and sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and establish trust towards C-level executives, end users, customers, vendors, and manufacturers in 1:1 and group settings. 
  • Strong financial acumen with a proven ability to draft scopes of work, develop accurate labor estimates, and drive profitability through disciplined scoping, resource planning, and budget management. 
  • Ability to listen, understand and convey highly complex information, and present in-depth technical solutions. 
  • Experience managing remote teams or contractors.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 
  • Proficiency in business analytics tools (CRM, ERP, Atlassian Suite, Data Visualization Tools) 

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree would be a plus.
