Job description

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Cloud Solution Architect to lead our cloud infrastructure initiatives, focusing on AWS GovCloud solutions for the Veterans Health Administration Office of Connected Care (VHA OCC). This position will be fully remote.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure as code (IaC), extensive experience in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions, and strong leadership skills to drive cloud adoption and best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with contracted development teams to design and implement systems that align with strategic goals.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of critical workflow processes, ensuring a focus on security and efficiency
  • Contribute to the observability, monitoring, and optimization of AWS microservices architecture
  • Monitor project progress, adapting strategies to meet changing needs and challenges
  • Help evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance our capabilities
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of processes to boost business efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide oversight and manage the iterative approach to application development projects that focus on continuous releases that incorporate customer feedback
  • Develop and effectively present/communicate and then carefully manage plans tailored to each new feature or application, maintaining responsibility for overall project success from start to finish
  • Help coordinate efforts across numerous teams through frequent and effective communication
  • Provide cross-functional consultative services to our stakeholders during development and troubleshooting

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field with 9+ years of experience
  • Good understanding of AWS Gov Cloud, VA Service environments.
  • Experience with quality assurance processes for CI/CD pipeline and experience with AWS.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in cloud architecture and solution implementation
  • Strong understanding of microservices/container architectures using Kubernetes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Functional skills with Infrastructure as Code & Automation (Jenkins, Argo CD, GitHub), Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), Observability & Monitoring (AppDynamics, Istio, Kibana, Kiali, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace), Software Component Management (Nexus), Active Directory (LDAP, DNS, Account Management), Databases (MongoDB, Oracle, MSSQL)
