Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and build complete automation control systems from scratch.

  • Develop custom programs for PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs across multiple automation platforms.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex automation and controls issues that require advanced troubleshooting.

  • Provide remote technical support to field technicians to assist with system troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Travel to customer sites to support field technicians and resolve escalated technical issues when needed.

  • Design automation systems and develop technical solutions while working independently from home between projects.

  • Research automation hardware and evaluate components for system applications.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to automation systems and projects.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on automation controls experience, with real, from-scratch programs.

  • Proficiency (or the ability to quickly get there) across major platforms: RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk Studio, TIA Portal, DirectSoft, and others.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a DMM, laptop, and advanced test equipment.

  • Strong reading comprehension, with the ability to program an unfamiliar device using the manual alone.

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites on short notice and respond after hours for true emergencies.

  • A high level of personal integrity and the self-discipline to work without supervision.
