Job description

What We're Doing
Become a part of something IMPACT-ful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation's defense against ballistic missile attacks.
The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.
The Work
The Software Engineer will support the Missile Defense Agency's GMD Weapon System program by designing, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining software capabilities that support mission-critical weapon system functionality. The engineer will work as part of an Agile product team and collaborate with systems engineering, test, cybersecurity, integration, and customer stakeholders to deliver reliable software solutions in support of program milestones.
In general, the Software Engineer:
Design, develop, document, test, and maintain software applications and system capabilities in support of the GWS program.
Support full software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing, integration, verification, and troubleshooting.
Develop and modify software using languages such as C++, Java, Python, Ada, or related technologies, depending on team and product needs.
Analyze software requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Support integration of software components into larger system-of-systems environments.
Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and defect resolution for software issues identified during development, integration, or test.
Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and other software team members to support Agile planning and execution.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and technical discussions.
Develop or update automated scripts, test utilities, tools, or analysis capabilities to improve software development and verification efficiency.
Support configuration management, version control, build processes, and software release activities.
Ensure software products comply with program engineering standards, cybersecurity requirements, and quality expectations.
Communicate technical status, risks, dependencies, and issues to team leads and management.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across software development, integration, and test processes.
Due to the nature of the role, this is not being offered as a teleworking or hybrid position.
