Reports Developer (Power BI) - Remote

Mindex

Rochester, NY • Remote

$70K - $120K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

Mindex is looking for a Reports Developer to help migrate our reporting environment out of Informer and into modern, scalable platforms. In this role, you'll work closely with business and technical stakeholders to rebuild and modernize existing reports - moving self-service reporting into Report Center (Prism) and more complex, custom reporting into Power BI, where it can connect directly to custom tables and objects in HRP that aren't replicated into Report Center.

You'll need to be comfortable moving between reporting tools and the underlying data platforms that feed them, translating existing Informer report logic into new formats without losing accuracy or business context along the way.

Compensation

$70,000 - $120,000

What You'll Accomplish
  • Analyze existing Informer reports to understand business logic, data sources, and intended use, then translate them into Report Center (Prism) or Power BI.
  • Build self-service reports in Report Center (Prism) that give end users flexibility without ongoing developer support.
  • Develop custom Power BI reports and data models for reporting needs that require direct access to custom tables and objects in HRP not available in Report Center.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries across source systems (Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle) to support report development.
  • Validate migrated reports against their Informer originals to confirm data accuracy and completeness.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to clarify report requirements, prioritize the migration backlog, and manage expectations during the transition.
  • Document report logic, data lineage, and migration decisions to support long-term maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or simplify reports during migration rather than just replicating them as-is.

Requirements

  • Experience building reports or dashboards in Power BI, Sigma, or a similar BI tool.
  • Strong SQL skills across one or more of: Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Experience translating business reporting requirements into technical report designs.
  • Ability to work independently with limited initial documentation, asking the right questions to fill in gaps.
  • Comfortable managing a migration-style project with a defined backlog of existing reports to convert.

Preferred

  • Experience with SSIS or Apache Airflow for data orchestration or movement.
  • Familiarity with Report Center or Prism specifically.
  • Experience with HRP (HR/Payroll) systems or HR data models.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into report development or data workflows.
  • Background in data migration or legacy system decommissioning projects.
