Job description

VetsEZ is currently looking for a Senior .NET Developer for a 100% remote position supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable .NET-based APIs that power an Azure integration platform connecting CRM applications with enterprise backend databases. You will collaborate with architects, frontend developers, backend data teams, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality API solutions while supporting the modernization of existing .NET Framework services to .NET Core.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building RESTful APIs using C# and ASP.NET Web API, implementing secure authentication mechanisms, and delivering enterprise-grade integrations through Agile development practices. Experience with Azure cloud services and AI-assisted development tools is preferred to help improve development efficiency and software quality.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using C#, ASP.NET Web API, .NET Framework, and .NET Core while implementing secure authentication using OAuth, JWT, or similar authentication protocols.
  • Develop, package, and deploy API solutions through automated CI/CD pipelines and publish services using Azure API Management for routing, versioning, policy enforcement, monitoring, and security.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and functional testing for .NET APIs to ensure application quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, backend data providers, architects, and QA teams to define API designs, integration strategies, and testing approaches.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve production issues while maintaining detailed technical documentation and supporting ongoing platform enhancements.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve coding efficiency, testing, debugging, and overall software delivery within an Agile environment.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, with 7+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Microsoft .NET technologies.
  • Advanced experience developing RESTful APIs using C#, ASP.NET Web API, .NET Framework, and .NET Core.
  • Strong experience implementing secure authentication and authorization using OAuth, JWT, or similar identity and access management protocols.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, API deployment, Azure API Management, and software testing methodologies within enterprise application environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and technical documentation abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working in Agile software development teams and cross-functional technical environments.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services, Azure App Services, Azure API Management, and cloud-native application development.
  • Experience migrating enterprise applications from .NET Framework to .NET Core or modern .NET platforms.
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), or other federal healthcare modernization programs, along with experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
