Job Description Summary:
The Senior SCADA Engineer, EPC will lead and execute SCADA and PPC engineering workstreams for the design, development, and delivery of the SOLV OTS SCADA solution on utility-scale PV and BESS projects.
This role can be fully remote or hybrid, with regular in-office presence in Bend, OR. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Lead the development and commissioning of SCADA monitoring and control systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Define and implement SCADA design standards and best practices aligned with company objectives.
  • Own end-to-end PPC implementation on assigned projects, including programming, hardware/software integration, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing to meet ISO, utility, and customer requirements.
  • Generate and maintain project documentation including; SAT reports, plant control narratives, device points list, and training material while adhering to defined company standards.
  • Provide expert level technical support for diverse SCADA equipment configurations.
  • Serve as a primary technical escalation point for complex PPC and SCADA issues.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical review, knowledge sharing, and standards reinforcement.
  • Drive standardization and process improvements to reduce commissioning effort and improve system consistency across projects.
  • Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams where necessary to support the SCADA system integration
  • Provide regular project status updates and risk assessments, proactively identifying and mitigating technical and schedule risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Promote a collaborative, team-first culture by approaching challenges with a solution-oriented mindset that emphasizes enablement over barriers.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous problem spaces to define technical direction and guide solution development.
  • Promote and adhere to a culture of NERC compliance and governance with respect to programming and commissioning standards, documentation, reporting, knowledge transfer and training.
  • Support operations and asset management teams during project handoff, ensuring seamless transition, operational readiness, and long-term system reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, reduce commissioning time, and standardize solutions across projects.

  • SCADA and PPC designs, programming, and commissioning activities meet established quality and performance standards.
  • SCADA configuration and testing activities comply with utility, NERC, and SOLV standards.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering is preferred.
  • 6-8 years of engineering experience or equivalent (experience working within renewable energy including; industrial or utility scale PV solar, BESS or Wind desired). Direct experience in SCADA engineering.
  • Advanced working knowledge of programming languages including but not limited to; C, C++, Java, Python, Structured Text (IEC61131-3).
  • Advanced working knowledge of Inductive Automation's Ignition SCADA platform or other equivalent SCADA platform(s).
  • Advanced working knowledge of Windows servers, relational databases, and SCADA applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of industry recognized PLC equipment including but not limited to Schweitzer Engineering RTAC Platform, Allen Bradley Control / CompactLogix platform, GE / Emerson RX3i, or similar "named variable" PLC environments.
  • Advanced working knowledge of tuning PID loops.
  • Advanced working knowledge of design, installation and commissioning of SCADA networks using; Fiber Optics, Serial RS-232 / RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP.
  • Advanced working knowledge of industrial automation protocols including but not limited to; Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA and DA.
  • Advanced working knowledge reading and developing diagrams and schematics including but not limited to, power system, networking and control, electrical, mechanical and civil layouts.
  • Advanced working knowledge of power plant operating procedures and control system interaction with governing bodies such as: Regional Compliance Entities, Independent System Operators, Transmission Operators, and Generator Operators.
  • Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.
  • Proficiency with various project management, scheduling, and task management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
