Job description

About the Role

As a Senior Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant for Luxe Strategic Partners, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality accounting services to a portfolio of clients. This is a public accounting position - you'll work within our firm serving multiple clients, not as an internal accountant for a single business. You'll manage full-cycle bookkeeping, month-end closings, and financial reporting for 10-15 client entities at a time, while building strong client relationships and supporting our team's commitment to service excellence.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in public or client-based accounting, a deep understanding of accrual accounting, and the ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced, collaborative remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting for multiple client entities in QuickBooks Online or Desktop.
- Perform monthly reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Utilize sales reports from POS systems (such as Square, Heartland, Toast) to create monthly sales journals.
- Utilize payroll reports from payroll processing software (such as Square, Heartland, Toast, ADP, QuickBooks) to recognize payroll expenses.
- Prepare, pay, and file sales tax returns for state and local agencies on a monthly or quarterly basis.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned clients, delivering proactive communication and clarity.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure consistent, timely, and accurate deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and strengthen client results.
- Maintain organized documentation and progress tracking within Karbon (our workflow management system).
- Support leadership in ensuring quality control and adherence to firm standards across engagements.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in public accounting or a client-based accounting firm environment (required).
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Desktop; QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification a plus.
- Solid understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Experience preparing and filing multi-jurisdiction sales tax returns.
- Experience recognizing payroll expense from third-party payroll or POS reports (e.g., Square, Toast, Heartland, ADP).
- Excellent communication skills and a client-service orientation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Proficiency with technology tools such as Karbon, ADP, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with hospitality, food & beverage, or service-based clients preferred.

Performance Standards

- Financials delivered accurately and on time.
- Minimal review adjustments required.
- Strong client satisfaction and retention.
- Consistent adherence to internal workflow and quality standards.
- Demonstrated initiative in improving efficiency or client outcomes.
