Job description

Eaton's North American Sales Division is currently seeking a US West Coast Digital Solutions Sales Specialist to join our team. This is a remote position and can be based in Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; Pleasanton, CA; Chandler, AZ; Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Wilsonville, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; Spokane, WA; Tukwila, WA; or Boise, ID. The position requires up to 50% travel to support customers and business initiatives throughout the region.

What you'll do: The Digital Solutions Sales Specialist (DSS) is responsible for driving growth of Eaton's digital solutions portfolio across utility customers throughout the western United States. This role serves as a trusted advisor to investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives, municipalities, and public power organizations, helping customers modernize their operations through a broad range of digital technologies and solutions. While Distribution Automation (DA) and Substation Automation (SA) remain important focus areas, the DSS is expected to develop opportunities across Eaton's expanding digital solution offerings, including grid modernization solutions, edge computing, distributed energy resources (DER) integration, analytics platforms, software applications, digital services, Utility Digital Solutions (UDS) offerings, and other evolving digital technologies.

The successful candidate combines strategic account development, consultative selling, and technical solution expertise to identify customer challenges, develop compelling business value propositions, and position Eaton as a long-term digital transformation partner. This role requires an individual who can navigate complex sales cycles, collaborate across multiple business units, and uncover opportunities that span hardware, software, services, and emerging digital technologies. The ideal candidate is an energetic and forward-thinking sales professional with a passion for innovation, customer engagement, and continuous learning.

In this function you will: Develop and execute strategic growth plans for Eaton's digital solutions portfolio within assigned utility accounts.

Identify customer business, operational, reliability, and grid modernization challenges and align Eaton's digital solutions to address those needs. Build relationships with executive, operational, and technical stakeholders, including C-suite and senior utility leaders, and serve as a trusted advisor helping customers modernize and optimize grid operations. Lead opportunity development across Eaton's digital solutions offerings, including automation, software, analytics, DER, edge computing, services, and emerging technologies.

Execute account strategies that expand Eaton's presence beyond traditional DA and SA opportunities into broader utility modernization initiatives. Collaborate with product specialists, solution architects, engineering teams, and regional sales resources to deliver integrated customer solutions. Review RFPs and provide content and direction as necessary throughout the procurement process.

Effectively develop, maintain, and manage a sales funnel pipeline in the Eaton CRM tools. Effectively manage manufacturer representatives, channel partners and work with local sales engineers to find, develop and win sales opportunities at Utility accounts in a large territory. Develop formal presentations for both internal and external use.

Provide insight to product marketing and engineering regarding current and future product direction. Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Minimum of five (5) years of industry experience in selling solutions to utilities Three (3+) years of experience selling utility technology, automation, software, digital, grid modernization, SCADA, ADMS, DERMS, analytics, or related solutions to utility customers. Relocation is not available.

Candidates must currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Chandler, AZ; Wilsonville, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Deigo, CA; Pleasanton, CA; Spokane, WA; Tukwila, WA or Boise, ID to be considered. Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver's license Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution Experience selling enterprise software, SaaS, operational technology (OT), or digital transformation solutions Demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities across multiple product and technology portfolios Experience engaging utility executive leadership and influencing strategic investment decision Familiarity with grid modernization, distributed energy resources, utility analytics, and emerging digital utility technologies Skills: Position Criteria: Deep understanding of utility industry trends, challenges, regulatory drivers, and grid modernization initiatives. Knowledge of utility digital technologies and associated systems, including SCADA, AMI, DERMS, automation, communications networks, cybersecurity, and power systems. Understanding of electrical distribution systems for utilities.

Knowledge of competitor products and channels in the utility industry. Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to identify, develop, and advance new business opportunities in a dynamic and evolving market. Experience managing complex technical sales processes with long cycles.

Pipeline management and cold calling experience. Ability to lead teams without direct authority. Strong drive for results and self-motivation.

Ability to work independently. Ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence key internal and external stakeholders. Solid business acumen and decision-making skills.

Possess strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with digital tools and technologies. Due to the nature of this customer-facing role an average of 50% travel is required and could be higher at certain times.

The compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive.

This position has a target total compensation range of $143,250-$210.100. Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
