The IT Manager, Developer Experience & Engineering Enablement is responsible for improving developer productivity, accelerating adoption of approved engineering practices, and creating a consistent self-service engineering experience across the enterprise. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances people leadership, product ownership, and engineering enablement. Success is measured through improved developer experience, increased adoption of engineering practices, faster onboarding, and measurable improvements in software delivery performance and developer productivity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Developer Experience & Internal Developer Platform
    • Define, publish, and continuously improve enterprise golden paths that simplify adoption of approved engineering practices, standards, and tooling.
    • Own the Internal Developer Platform strategy, roadmap, backlog, and day-to-day operation.
    • Lead development and maintenance of developer-facing platform experiences, including service catalog, golden paths, templates, engineering standards, service documentation, learning content, scorecards, and self-service resources.
    • Establish governance and lifecycle management processes to ensure platform content remains current, accurate, and aligned with enterprise engineering standards.
    • Develop integrations and experiences that improve discoverability of engineering tools, capabilities, ownership, system health indicators, and engineering guidance.
    • Develop and maintain service catalogs, scorecards, engineering health insights, and self-service capabilities that improve developer productivity and engineering effectiveness.
    • Evaluate and implement platform capabilities that improve developer productivity, self-service adoption, and engineering effectiveness.
    Engineering Enablement & Insights
    • Own the Engineering Dojo strategy, roadmap, backlog, and day-to-day operation.
    • Design and deliver hands-on workshops, learning paths, labs, office hours, and coaching engagements.
    • Develop enablement content that helps engineers adopt enterprise standards, golden paths, security practices, and modern engineering techniques.
    • Own the DORA metrics and Software Engineering Intelligence (SEI) program, including metric definitions, data quality, reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Define, implement, and maintain engineering effectiveness metrics, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting capabilities.
    • Collaborate with platform and engineering teams to ensure accurate collection, quality, and visibility of engineering data.
    • Develop and maintain engineering health scorecards and insights that provide visibility into software delivery performance, developer productivity, adoption of engineering practices, and continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Translate DORA metrics, engineering health indicators, and engineering intelligence data into actionable improvement opportunities for engineering teams and leaders.
    • Partner with engineering leaders to establish improvement objectives and track progress using DORA and engineering intelligence metrics.
    • Facilitate the Engineering Community of Practice as a forum for knowledge sharing, collaboration, feedback collection, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.
    People Leadership
    • Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team of engineers and engineering enablement professionals.
    • Establish clear goals, priorities, and success measures aligned to Engineering Practices objectives.
    • Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
    • Manage team capacity, work prioritization, budget inputs, and delivery commitments.
    • Build strong partnerships across engineering, security, architecture, product, and platform teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, developer productivity, developer experience, or related technical disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and developing technical talent.
  • Experience leading developer productivity, developer experience, engineering enablement, engineering excellence, platform engineering, or related engineering transformation initiatives.
  • Experience developing, governing, or driving adoption of engineering standards, practices, and enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Experience developing and reporting engineering metrics, scorecards, health indicators, and operational insights.
  • Hands-on experience implementing, supporting, or driving adoption of modern developer toolchains, including GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, artifact management platforms, software quality tools, and application security tooling.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, Agile delivery, DevSecOps, and platform engineering concepts.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing technology stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, organizational change, and leadership skills.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:

  • Hands-on experience implementing or operating Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) such as Backstage, Port, Cortex, or similar technologies.
  • Experience implementing or operationalizing DORA metrics, engineering scorecards, and engineering effectiveness programs.
  • Experience with Software Engineering Intelligence (SEI) platforms and practices.
  • Experience developing engineering training, enablement, coaching, or developer education programs.
  • Experience evaluating and promoting emerging developer productivity capabilities, including AI-assisted engineering practices and tooling.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.

This role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as quarterly or project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings.
