The UW MEDICAL CENTER - MONTLAKE - SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT has an outstanding opportunity for a SOCIAL WORK MANAGER..
WORK SCHEDULE
• 40 hours per week
• Day Shift
• This position requires on-call coverage one week per month
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The Social Work Manager provides leadership and supervision of clinical staff on inpatient units, program and policy development and monitoring, and quality improvement activities. The Social Work Manager also assists in recruitment and hiring processes and is responsible for orientation of assigned supervisees and ongoing performance evaluation. This position serves as a key representative for the Social Work and Care Coordination department in interdisciplinary and community collaborations.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage personnel responsibilities including recruitment, hiring, orienting new staff. Conduct timely performance reviews and progressive counseling as appropriate to meet the medical center expectations and Patient's First goals. Assist with staffing and scheduling.
• Facilitate program planning, monitoring and reporting, including overseeing workgroups and projects.
• Demonstrate timely response to staff concerns and proactively address barriers to effective provision of Social Work & Care Coordination services (both micro and macro, larger system and unique to specific services/settings).
• Champion fair resolution of staff/team conflicts, particularly in politically or culturally driven matters or situations arising out of personality/work approach differences.
• Coach and monitor staff in managing high-stress work and system changes by promoting self-care strategies, professional development, and a positive culture.
• Foster a positive work environment by modeling and encouraging collaboration, acknowledgement of excellent work within and outside the department. Demonstrate commitment to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within the department and organization.
• Represent the Social Work & Care Coordination department to other departments and external organizations. Advocate for appropriate staff roles. Address impacts of system decisions on Social Work & Care Coordination staff.
Strong candidates will have their case management certification (ACM or CCM certification).
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master's of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
• Current active license or within 90 days of hire one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington must be obtained:
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
• Must meet WA State Department of Health criteria to be an "approved supervisor" for clinical supervision of provisionally licensed social workers.
• Five years full-time professional Social Work experience in a health care delivery system OR equivalent education/experience. Two years of this experience must have been in a health care setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle a fluctuating workload.
• Ability to act independently, utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Adherence to the NASW Code of Ethics
• Hospital Inpatient Case Management experience
