Join our Team at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 21 as a Physician - Sleep Deputy Chief - Remote Position!

The VISN 21 CRH Sleep Deputy Chief will support the VISN 21 Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) Sleep Section Chief to ensure CRH Sleep services are completed at the highest standard, in alignment with national CRH standards following specific CRH, telehealth, and other pertinent program office policies and procedures. The VISN 21 CRH Sleep Deputy Chief is required to exercise a high level of organizational skill, independent judgement, and problem-solving ability, and must have the ability to communicate effectively with field staff and CRH leadership.
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
Clinical Responsibilities:
a. Reviewing incoming consults to determine whether patients would benefit from care through the CRH program. Provide electronic consultation to health care professionals and other sleep specialists as appropriate.
b. Conducting visits and providing care through telehealth (video visits to home, video visits between facilities, and asynchronous care across facilities).
c. Providing care to Veterans, which includes coordination of care. Coordination of care will be needed with the patient's home facility and within the CRH.
d. Performing comprehensive evaluations of patients presenting with sleep disorders and managing patients with sleep disorders.
e. Order, administer, and interpret physiological, psychological, behavioral, and cognitive tests.
f. Determine when appropriate physiological, behavioral, and psychological interventions are necessary to treat the comprehensive range of sleep disorders and related health conditions.
g. Prescribe medications within defined scope of practice.
h. Initiate, respond, and expedite request for consultations, special tests, and studies.
i. Provide education and counseling for patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs. As appropriate, participate in interprofessional focused patient chart reviews, team meetings, team huddles, and shared medical appointments.

Administrative Duties:
a. Assists the CRH Sleep Section Chief with responsibilities as assigned for organizing and directing the day-to-day operations of the VISN CRH Sleep program and CRH Sleep staff.
b. In collaboration with the Section Chief, ensures efficient day-to-day operations of the VISN CRH Sleep service are met.
c. Additional duties as assigned.

Benefits and Features

  • Expected Salary range from $280K to $400K (negotiable based on candidate's qualifications, credentials and experience).

* Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday (PST)

* Remote: This position is 100% remote outside of working area. Please note, this position is designated as a remote position, and we have disclosed to you that this position may fall under the President.

* Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized.

* Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.

* Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).

* Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

* Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).

* Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

* CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).

* Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.

* Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
