What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Shipyard Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Shipyard Engineer, you need a solid background in naval architecture, marine engineering, or a related field, often supported by a relevant engineering degree and industry certifications. Proficiency in CAD software, project management tools, and remote collaboration systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills help you coordinate effectively with on-site teams and manage complex engineering challenges from a distance. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring shipyard projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to technical specifications, even when working remotely.

What are some common challenges faced by engineers working remotely in shipyard engineering, and how can they be addressed?

Engineers in remote shipyard roles often encounter challenges such as coordinating effectively with on-site teams, accessing up-to-date project data, and maintaining clear communication across time zones. To address these, many organizations utilize collaborative digital tools, regular video conferences, and cloud-based documentation platforms to keep everyone aligned. Building strong relationships with both on-site and remote team members is key to navigating these challenges and ensuring project milestones are met efficiently.

What is remote shipyard engineering?

Remote shipyard engineering involves the management, design, and maintenance of shipbuilding and repair processes from a location outside the physical shipyard. Using advanced digital tools, engineers can oversee projects, collaborate with onsite teams, and conduct inspections or troubleshooting remotely. This approach enhances efficiency, reduces travel costs, and allows experts to contribute from anywhere in the world. It has become increasingly important as shipyards adopt more digital and automated systems.

Job description

The Shipyard is a leading, independent agency that builds performance-driven brands audiences can't help but love.

By applying modern mindsets to established models, we fuel brand and marketing decisions that are more courageous and more validated.

Our ability to align bold creativity with individual consumer motivations lets us do more than hope for brand love - we methodically engineer it throughout the consumer journey. That's how we activate the synergistic power of brand building and performance marketing.

Engineering Brand Love through the courageous ambitions of our people and our clients.

The agency has significant momentum, and we're still growing. Come join our team!

SUMMARY

We are looking for a smart, experienced, and motivated Producer to join our Columbus, OH team. The Producer will join The Yard and support the day-to-day operations of our growing content team. The Yard is The Shipyard's Ohio-based, in-house creative video content studio, specializing in video production and motion content.

This role is less about traditional production and more about owning the systems, workflows, and resourcing that keep the team running efficiently. You'll be the central hub across project intake, team traffic, and project management, ensuring the right work is scoped properly, assigned effectively, and delivered on time and on budget. Working knowledge of production and postproduction workflows and skillsets is important.

This is an extremely active role. The Producer is quarterbacking projects rather than someone who is just handling tasks and passively making assignments. The team looks to you to understand priorities, timing, and workload.

This is a hybrid work-from-home/office position (in-office attendance is required on Tuesdays & Thursdays), and the candidate must live near Columbus, OH.

At The Shipyard, we know that it's your unique talents, backgrounds, and perspectives that make you who you are, just like our team, who come from various career paths and experiences. We believe we can't be truly diverse without bringing your most authentic self to the agency.

Studies show that people from marginalized communities may not always apply for positions if they don't meet every single requirement in a job posting. At The Shipyard, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the requirements. We believe that your passion for what we stand for - our values and purpose - is just as important as meeting every checkbox.
