The Platform Security team shapes the security strategy for Akamai's Cloud Platforms. We improve the security posture of Akamai's platform by working holistically to resolve known issues and risks and providing tools, services, and support that help Akamai teams build new products and capabilities that efficiently fulfill diverse security and compliance requirements. We focus on enabling secure development while aligning with business and product goals.

Become Akamai's next Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop innovative security solutions for our platform components and services. Your focus will span key areas such as software and configuration deployments, databases, and control plane systems. You will play a critical role in engineering secure, scalable solutions across these domains.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating engineering execution and technical expertise by delivering high-quality code and end-to-end security implementations, focusing on meeting defined objectives around scalability, availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Supporting the full product life cycle - ideation, implementation, operation.
  • Working across stakeholders - Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, and InfoSec to satisfy their needs/requirements in the software development life cycle.
  • Socializing and building consensus around engineering decisions to provide stable and secure products through hands-on technical contribution.
  • Solving complex security problems across both the platform and products.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 8 years of relevant software engineering and design experience and a BS degree or 5 years of relevant experience and MS degree
  • Have programming (e.g. Python, Go) capabilities to develop new product ideas and evolve existing systems.
  • Be familiar with security concepts such as Zero Trust and secure/confidential computing
  • Demonstrate familiarity with networking concepts including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL
  • Be familiar with Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g. Terraform, Salt, etc.)
  • Have experience with software and hardware vulnerability management, and tools e.g. Tenable, Vulcan Cyber, Trivy, SonarQube, etc.
  • Have knowledge of compliance regimes such as PCI, ISO, SOC2, and FedRamp

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $121,400 - $218,600/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
