What does a remote security manager do?

A Remote Security Manager oversees the implementation and management of security measures for organizations with distributed or remote teams. They are responsible for protecting digital assets, ensuring compliance with security policies, and responding to security incidents, often coordinating efforts virtually. Their tasks typically include risk assessments, developing security protocols, monitoring networks for threats, and providing guidance on cybersecurity best practices to remote employees. This role requires strong technical skills, up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity trends, and the ability to communicate effectively with remote teams.

How does a remote security manager effectively coordinate with on-site teams to address security incidents?

As a Remote Security Manager, you’ll rely on strong communication tools and protocols to coordinate with on-site teams during security incidents. Regular video calls, incident management platforms, and clear escalation procedures are essential for staying informed and ensuring quick response times. Building trust with local personnel and providing ongoing virtual training also help streamline collaboration, making it possible to resolve incidents efficiently despite the physical distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote security manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Security Manager, you need expertise in cybersecurity, risk assessment, and incident response, typically backed by a relevant degree and certifications like CISSP or CISM. Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) systems, firewalls, and cloud security tools is crucial. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities help coordinate virtual teams and manage crises effectively. These skills ensure robust protection of organizational assets and the ability to respond swiftly to security threats in a remote environment.

Job description

Assistant National Account Portfolio Manager
The Assistant Client Portfolio Manager is not a traditional operations management position.
This role is designed to develop the future strategic leader of one of GardaWorld Security Services’ largest and most complex client portfolios. Working directly alongside the National Account Portfolio Director, this individual will become the trusted second-in-command responsible for helping manage a multi-faceted enterprise account while learning every aspect of strategic account leadership.
The successful candidate will partner closely with internal and client stakeholders, support financial oversight, coordinate large-scale projects, analyze business performance, and help drive strategic initiatives across a complex portfolio consisting of physical security operations, special events, retail security, alarm response, and other integrated security programs.
This position is intentionally designed as a succession role. The individual selected will receive extensive mentorship while progressively assuming greater ownership of client relationships, strategic initiatives, and business decisions.
While previous security industry experience is beneficial, it is not required. We are seeking a strong business leader who has successfully managed complex client relationships, understands financial performance, and thrives operating in high-visibility enterprise environments.

  • Career Growth: Career growth opportunities at GardaWorld
  • Travel: Up to 50% to support business needs as they arise
Your Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic initiatives and enterprise projects by coordinating large-scale staffing efforts, special events, client expansions, program implementations, and cross-functional initiatives while ensuring successful execution from planning through completion.
  • Parter across the organization to support the portfolio, collaborating with operations, branch leadership, HR, Finance, Recruiting, and Executive Leadership to drive business outcomes without direct day-to-day operational management.
  • Analyze business performance and communicate strategic insights by preparing executive-level presentations, KPI dashboards, financial summaries, business reviews, and recommendations that support client success and portfolio growth.
  • Develop through hands on mentorship, progressively assuming greater responsibility for client relationships, business planning, strategic decision making, and overall portfolio leadership as part of a formal succession plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
