Job description

Job Title: Accountant/Auditor Location: Rockville, MD Type: Contract, long term expected Compensation: Negotiable, depending on Experience & Education Work Model: Potentially remote after proving yourself Hours: 40 hours a week Security Clearance: None but background check will include criminal AND credit check

Responsibilities • Support the Department of Finance, Division of Treasury for a county government, with work potentially performed remotely with prior approval. • Understand generally accepted accounting principles for governmental accounting, including GASB and FASB standards. • Proficient in Oracle Financials accounting systems, Excel, and other current technology; knowledge of MUNIS or Paymentus, Crystal Reports, and BI tools is strongly preferred. • Prepare analyses of reports, make recommendations, and perform analysis of assigned funds/sub-funds. • Conduct complex reconciliations of Oracle General Ledger accounts and prepare supporting work papers for journal entries.

Requirements • Expertise in accounting principles, including GASB and FASB standards. • Proficiency with Oracle ERP accounting systems, Excel, MUNIS, Crystal Reports, and BI tools preferred. • Ability to perform complex account reconciliations and prepare detailed supporting documentation. • Strong analytical and communication skills. • Prior experience supporting TREASURY departments is preferred.
