Examples of relevant experience include radiometric or thermometric analysis, sensor/atmospheric calibration, MTF and SNR assessments, exploitation algorithm development, signal/image processing, modeling and simulation, and Fourier analysis.
Candidate must possess familiarity with image processing and software tools such as ENVI/IDL, MATLAB, or Python. Other beneficial skills could include experience with atmospheric radiative transfer models (e. g. MODTRAN), XML data handling, image product formats (NITF, JPEG, etc.), AI/ML tools and "big data" analysis techniques.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform studies and analysis to characterize and improve the quality of remote sensing data
  • Coordinate calibration planning by leading weekly payload calibration meetings, generate calibration handbooks, master schedules, data dissemination CONOPS, readiness plans, success criteria, and readiness review execution plans
  • Manage collaborative sites for calibration activities; create, populate, and maintain data repositories to allow distributed teams to access required data and collaborate on execution
  • Deliver and publish radiometric data, sensor characterization reports, and calibration task out briefs
  • Fully analyze and report findings of calibration truth data, characterize and report accuracy
  • Maintain and update scripts, processes and data required for calibration assessment and monitoring
  • Conduct analysis to validate test and transition of capabilities
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders to develop future capabilities, requirements updates and planning
  • Monitor and assess enterprise product and data integrity
  • Lead independent enterprise investigations of anomalous product quality performance and produce analysis to expedite problem identification and resolution

Qualifications
Required:
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI Clearance with Poly.
  • Bachelor's degree with 10-12 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 8-10 years, or PhD with 5-7 years in Image Science, Optics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical analysis of EO remote sensing data; image processing and digital signal processing experience; image chain analysis
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; demonstrated ability to clearly explain technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability and success working independently and in team environments
  • Customer focused and capable of representing the customer in user outreach, familiarity activities and community forums
  • Experience developing/modifying engineering code in at least one of Python, MATLAB, ENVI/IDL or similar to solve hard problems and create processes for repeatable results

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in Image Science, Optics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering with 15 or more years of relevant experience, or master's degree with comparable experience
  • Project management or leadership experience
  • Experience working on product initialization teams
  • Experience with one or more of PAN, IR, MSI, HSI, LIDAR, or RADAR systems and analysis
  • Experience developing/modifying engineering code in multiple of Python, MATLAB, ENVI/IDL or similar to solve hard problems and create processes for repeatable results
