Science and Innovation Manager

Kalon Executive Search is partnering with an innovative, science-driven consumer health company to identify an exceptional Science and Innovation Manager. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an accomplished scientific professional who is passionate about advancing evidence-based nutrition and bringing cutting-edge health solutions to market.

Reporting to the executive leadership team, this individual will lead scientific strategy across research, clinical validation, product innovation, and technical education. The Director will play a critical role in shaping the company's innovation pipeline while serving as a trusted scientific authority for internal teams, healthcare practitioners, and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the organization's scientific expert, providing strategic guidance across product development, marketing, sales, regulatory, and executive leadership.
  • Translate complex scientific research into clear, evidence-based messaging for healthcare professionals, consumers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop educational materials including technical dossiers, white papers, product monographs, scientific presentations, and training resources.
  • Lead scientific education initiatives to ensure internal teams are equipped with accurate and compliant product knowledge.
  • Support product positioning through credible scientific communication and technical expertise.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of clinical research programs supporting product efficacy and innovation.
  • Collaborate with contract research organizations (CROs), academic institutions, physicians, and scientific partners to execute human clinical studies.
  • Develop clinical protocols, study endpoints, biomarker strategies, and data collection methodologies.
  • Interpret clinical findings and translate research outcomes into meaningful product claims and educational content.
  • Partner closely with Regulatory and Legal teams to ensure all scientific communications remain compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging ingredients, technologies, and scientific advancements within the nutrition, wellness, and dietary supplement industries.
  • Evaluate published scientific literature to identify opportunities for new product development and portfolio expansion.
  • Partner with formulation scientists to develop evidence-based products utilizing innovative ingredient combinations and delivery technologies.
  • Provide scientific guidance throughout prototype development, formulation optimization, and commercialization.
  • Support long-term innovation strategy by identifying future market trends and research opportunities.
  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, industry events, practitioner education programs, and professional organizations.
  • Build relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare practitioners, researchers, and academic institutions.
  • Contribute to the organization's thought leadership through publications, educational initiatives, and scientific presentations.
  • Champion scientific integrity, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD, ND, PharmD, or other advanced degree in Nutritional Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Physiology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, functional nutrition, or consumer health.
  • Strong background in clinical research design, human clinical trials, biomarkers, and evidence-based product development.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives across R&D, regulatory, quality, marketing, and executive leadership.
  • Deep understanding of dietary supplement regulations, scientific substantiation, and product claim development.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex science to diverse audiences.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience developing nutraceutical products utilizing advanced delivery technologies such as peptides, sustained-release technologies, or other novel ingredient platforms.
  • Published scientific research or direct involvement in peer-reviewed clinical studies.
  • Experience presenting to physicians, healthcare practitioners, or scientific audiences.
  • Working knowledge of FDA dietary supplement regulations, DSHEA, FTC advertising guidelines, and global regulatory frameworks.
  • Established network within the nutrition, academic, or clinical research community.
  • Lead a scientifically rigorous innovation strategy that drives new product development and long-term growth.
  • Advance clinical research initiatives that strengthen product credibility and differentiation.
  • Establish trusted scientific partnerships across academia, healthcare, and industry.
  • Elevate scientific education across internal teams and external stakeholders.

Compensation: $160,000 plus benefits
