What is a remote salesperson?

A Remote Salesperson is a sales professional who works outside of a traditional office environment, often from home or another remote location. Their primary responsibilities include reaching out to potential clients, managing existing accounts, and closing sales using digital communication tools like email, phone calls, and video conferencing. This role requires strong self-motivation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. Remote Salespeople may work for companies in various industries and often use customer relationship management (CRM) software to track leads and sales performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote salesperson, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Salesperson, you need strong sales acumen, persuasive communication skills, and a proven track record in customer relationship management, typically supported by relevant sales experience or a degree in business. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software such as Salesforce or HubSpot, as well as proficiency with virtual meeting tools, is essential. Exceptional self-motivation, adaptability, and time management are crucial soft skills for excelling without direct supervision. These skills and qualities enable remote salespeople to build client trust, achieve targets, and maintain productivity while working independently.

How do remote salespeople typically stay connected with their team and clients while working from home?

Remote salespeople often rely on digital communication tools such as video conferencing, instant messaging, and CRM platforms to maintain strong connections with both their team and clients. Regular virtual meetings, daily check-ins, and collaborative cloud-based tools help ensure everyone stays aligned on goals and customer needs. Building rapport remotely can be challenging, but proactive communication, timely follow-ups, and leveraging personalized emails or video calls can foster trust with clients and colleagues alike.

What is the difference between Remote Salesperson vs Remote Account Executive?

AspectRemote SalespersonRemote Account Executive
CredentialsSales experience, communication skillsSales experience, industry knowledge, sometimes CRM proficiency
Work EnvironmentHome office, virtual meetingsHome office, client meetings, virtual interactions
Industry UsageCommon across sales rolesMore specialized, often in B2B sectors
Search/Comparison IntentSales roles, remote sales jobsAccount management, client acquisition roles

Remote Salespersons focus on generating new leads and closing sales, often handling outbound calls. Remote Account Executives typically manage existing accounts and develop client relationships, with a focus on retention and upselling. While both roles require sales skills and remote work setup, the Account Executive role emphasizes account management and client relationships more than the general sales activities of a Remote Salesperson.

How do I get into remote sales?

To get into remote sales, develop strong communication and negotiation skills, gain experience with customer relationship management (CRM) tools, and build a professional network. Many remote sales roles require a proven sales track record and familiarity with digital communication platforms like email, video conferencing, and social media. Earning relevant certifications or training can also improve your chances of entering the field.

Job description

Do you want to work in a unique culture where doing the right thing always comes first and closing the sale is a distant second? Where this is a great team environment that supports one another? Where there are no stressful quotas or constant meetings wanting you to sell, sell, sell?
Our client ended 2023 with a lot of momentum and they need more help! Our leads are requesting information, so this is a unique role where you don't cold call, you don't pay for leads, you don't come into an office, and you only work the days/hours that work well for you! If you don't have your license, no problem, that will be partially paid for, and you'll be guided through the process!
What You'll Do
  • Provide potential customers with information regarding our life insurance over a Zoom call. You will not maintain responsibility for the client if a sale is made, so there are very few administrative duties here!

What We Need
  • Good people. You want to make money of course, but you really care about providing others with a much-needed service.
  • Team players. Though you are an Independent Agent, you will be part of a team that operates as a unit, providing support and encouragement to one another.

Licensing
All agents need to be licensed in Life and Health before they can start selling. The company does pick up 50% of the pre-licensing expense. The average out of pocket expense for a new agent is between $250-$350 spread out over several weeks. You can check with your state Department of Insurance for the exact cost, this will be covered during the interview process as well.
