What is a Remote SaaS Developer?

A Remote SaaS Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building, maintaining, and improving Software as a Service (SaaS) applications while working from a remote location. They focus on cloud-based solutions that are delivered to users over the internet, handling tasks like backend and frontend development, API integration, and ensuring scalability and security. Remote SaaS Developers use tools for collaboration, version control, and deployment to work effectively with distributed teams. Their work enables clients and users to access software without installing it locally, often through a subscription model.

How do remote SaaS developers typically collaborate with product and design teams to deliver features efficiently?

Remote SaaS developers frequently work closely with product managers and designers through virtual meetings, collaborative tools like Jira or Trello, and version control platforms such as GitHub. Regular stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, and asynchronous communication help keep everyone aligned despite differing time zones. Clear documentation, proactive communication, and a willingness to provide and receive feedback are key to ensuring new features are delivered on time and meet quality standards. This collaborative environment fosters a sense of team cohesion even when working remotely.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer (SaaS) based in Netherlands.

This remote senior QA role is focused on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of a fast-growing SaaS healthcare platform. The position plays a key role in defining and elevating quality engineering practices across the entire software development lifecycle. You will combine hands-on manual testing with advanced automation, API validation, and data reconciliation to safeguard product stability. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to ensure high-quality releases. A strong emphasis is placed on building scalable QA systems, not just executing test cases. You will also contribute to improving CI/CD quality gates and strengthening release confidence in a rapidly evolving environment. This is an impactful role for a senior QA engineer who enjoys shaping quality strategy in a dynamic SaaS setting.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and continuously enhance QA strategy, processes, and standards to improve overall software quality, release confidence, and production stability across the SaaS platform.
  • Design, execute, and maintain manual testing efforts including test plans, exploratory testing, regression testing, and validation of complex business workflows.
  • Build and evolve test automation frameworks for UI and API layers, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines to improve test coverage and reliability.
  • Perform API testing and validation using tools like Postman, including authentication, authorization, error handling, and regression suite automation.
  • Conduct data validation and reconciliation using SQL to verify system integrity, investigate production issues, and validate backend processes and integrations.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to review requirements, triage defects, and communicate quality risks effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive QA documentation including test cases, release checklists, regression suites, defect logs, and QA reports.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in QA engineering for SaaS or enterprise-grade web applications with ownership of end-to-end quality.
  • Strong expertise in manual testing, test case design, exploratory testing, and validation of complex workflows.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or TestCafe.
  • Strong API testing experience using Postman and understanding of REST APIs, including validation of authentication, payloads, and error handling.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience working on SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL for data validation and reconciliation.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of SaaS architectures including multi-tenant systems, authentication/SSO, and enterprise workflows.
  • Ability to analyze quality metrics and decide when to automate vs. perform manual testing.
  • Experience with AI-assisted QA practices (test generation, automation support, defect analysis) is a strong plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and seniority level.
  • Remote-first work environment with East Coast working hours alignment and flexibility where possible.
  • Health, dental, and medical coverage benefits.
  • Performance-based annual bonus and potential equity participation.
  • Paid time off and supportive work-life balance policies.
  • Opportunity to work on a high-impact healthcare SaaS platform with modern QA technologies.
  • Exposure to advanced automation, AI-assisted QA tools, and scalable engineering practices.
