Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations through detailed preliminary interviews to understand clients' experiences and challenges.
  • Document cases meticulously, tracking progress from the initial consultation to treatment completion to ensure continuity of care.
  • Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, enabling clients to achieve their therapeutic goals.
  • Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, using evidence-based practices to foster client engagement and progress.
  • Monitor client progress continuously throughout the treatment journey, making necessary adjustments in collaboration with your multidisciplinary team.
  • Work closely with other mental health specialists, doctors, nurses, and social workers to create comprehensive intervention plans, ensuring a well-rounded approach to each client’s mental health.
  • Maintain effective follow-up communications with psychiatrists and attending physicians regarding clients’ needs, especially when hospitalizations are required.
  • Recognize and intervene to prevent behaviors that may hinder client recovery, ensuring a focus on safety and well-being.
  • Offer support and guidance to family members and primary caregivers, equipping them with strategies to manage mental and behavioral challenges effectively.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The clients you will serve come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, including individuals coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. Candidates with advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMFT, LPC, LCSW) in the state of New Jersey.
  • Successful completion of the NCE and/or the NCMHCE with a passing score, demonstrating competence in mental health counseling.
  • Ability to navigate electronic health record systems, preferably with experience in AVATAR or similar platforms.
  • In-depth familiarity with various mental health conditions, including dual diagnoses and addiction disorders, ensuring comprehensive care for clients.
  • Proficiency in understanding and applying the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities, to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a mental health counselor, ideally within a community health or outpatient setting.
  • Hands-on experience in group therapy settings, demonstrating the ability to facilitate discussions and therapeutic activities.
  • Knowledge of pharmacological treatments and their impact on mental health care to better inform therapeutic strategies.
Compensation and Benefits
