Work Environment

This position is structured to offer a remote work arrangement, allowing counselors to work from the comfort of their homes while collaborating closely with our onsite medical team. Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and the medical team to coordinate comprehensive mental health treatment for patients both within our facility and in the community.
  • Provide in-service training on mental health awareness and intervention techniques to the medical, psychiatric, and security staff as needed.
  • Actively intervene during mental health emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Attend commitment hearings when necessary, contributing your expertise on patient mental health assessments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, establishing specific goals and interventions tailored to each inmate's unique circumstances.
  • Accurately document all patient interactions and treatment progress in accordance with organizational standards, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Maintain thorough communication regarding patients’ mental health histories, including verification of previous treatments and medications.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports to track patient progress and organizational metrics, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with nursing and mental health teams to ensure appropriate post-release referrals and community integration.
