Job description

Title: Technical Lead – Transmission
Location: Remote (Unable to hire in New York, California, Hawaii, Connecticut, New Jersey, Oregon, Missouri, or Washington)
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire
Salary: $40-$60/hour

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Technical Lead – Transmission to support natural gas transmission and utility design projects in a fully remote environment.

Job Duties:
  • Lead and support a team on multiple transmission design projects
  • Manage a high volume of smaller projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and deadlines
  • Provide proactive communication, technical support, and mentorship to team members
  • Support natural gas transmission design and utility-related engineering activities
  • Coordinate project documentation, layouts, and design deliverables
  • Utilize AutoCAD for design and drafting support
  • Interpret Sidwell maps and support land rights coordination efforts
Qualifications:
  • 3–6 years of engineering experience within utility or transmission-related projects
  • Familiarity with Natural Gas Design required
  • Nicor / NSG experience is a plus
  • RNG, Biogas, and/or Hydrogen design experience is a plus
  • Engineering degree required with ability to obtain a PE license
  • Hands-on AutoCAD design experience and understanding of AutoCAD best practices
  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities
