Job description

Job Title: Resident Financial Liaison
Location: Bethany Lutheran Home – Sioux Falls & Brandon

Schedule:

  • Full-Time
  • Monday – Friday
  • Primarily Remote Position
  • Occasional on-site meetings and work at our Sioux Falls and Brandon campuses as needed

Pay: Starting hourly range: $21 - $24. Pay will be based on experience and qualifications

At Bethany Home, we are caring people; caring for people—and we're looking for a compassionate, organized professional to join our Business Office team as a Resident Financial Liaison.

This position serves as the primary financial resource for residents and their families, assisting with billing, Medicaid applications, collections, and resident accounts while working closely with Administration, Social Services, and our Business Office.

What You'll Do:

  • Review financial information for prospective resident admissions.
  • Meet with residents and responsible parties to explain billing, payment options, and electronic payment enrollment.
  • Assist residents and families throughout the Medicaid application process.
  • Maintain accurate resident financial, insurance, census, and contact information.
  • Generate monthly resident statements and communicate regarding billing questions and account balances.
  • Monitor resident trust accounts and coordinate Medicaid spend-down planning.
  • Work with the Department of Social Services regarding Medicaid determinations and outstanding balances.
  • Review accounts receivable for accuracy and communicate findings with leadership.
  • Maintain financial tracking spreadsheets and prepare required monthly census reports.
  • Collaborate with payment vendors to improve billing processes and efficiency.
  • Provide receptionist coverage during scheduled vacations.
  • Work closely with Administration, Social Services, and the Business Office to provide exceptional service to residents and families.

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in medical billing, insurance, healthcare administration, finance, or customer service preferred.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn—Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party billing requirements.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
