POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Nutritional Sciences, in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State, is seeking candidates for Human Research Technologist (Research Dietician). The successful candidate will support both the Penn State Research Kitchen and Diet Assessment Center (DAC).
The Penn State Research Kitchen is a metabolic kitchen dedicated to the production of foods, meals, and complete diets for clinical Trials. The Diet Assessment Center helps to administer 24-hour recalls through NSDA and ASA-24 for nutrition-related research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produce and provide research-grade food for clinical trials, ranging from formulation and procurement to preparation, cooking, and packing for off-site consumption.
  • Engage with research participants to provide instructions and assess adherence to the research protocol and research-related administrative tasks.
  • Supervise, train, and support student research assistants
  • Conduct diet assessments with research participants
  • Conduct quality assurance
  • Generate diet assessment reports and invoices

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field is desired
  • Familiarity and/or experience in clinical nutrition trials
  • Familiarity and/or experience in diet assessment, especially using Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR)

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
If filled as Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine - Professional, this position requires:Associate DegreeNo prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.Required Certifications:Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic RegistrationServSafe Food Handling Certification - National Restaurant AssociationIf filled as Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine - Intermediate Professional, this position requires:Associate Degree2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedRequired Certifications:Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic RegistrationServSafe Food Handling Certification - National Restaurant Association
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $61,000.00.
