Organization Summary
DeafLEAD is seeking an experienced and compassionate full-time Information Technology & Compliance Specialist to join an exciting, supportive, and engaging team.
DeafLEAD is a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late-Deafened, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Deaf+ individuals and their families within the state of Missouri and nationwide. Our mission is to promote the emotional and physical well-being of consumers in a safe and respectful environment utilizing a consumer-centered, trauma-informed approach.
We are committed to providing a variety of services to effectively meet the changing needs within the Deaf community. These services include (but are not limited to): crisis intervention, safety planning, legal/medical/personal advocacy, case management, crisis videophone/text/chat/hotline services, mental health services, training, and interpreting.
DeafLEAD offers crisis services 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Essential Functions
  • Follow DeafLEAD's policies and procedures.
  • Believe in DeafLEAD's philosophy and goals as stated in Summary of Organization.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the IT function, including user support, system maintenance, and issue resolution for staff.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and related collaboration tools.
  • Provide technical support for the development and maintenance of SharePoint sites, document libraries, lists, and workflows.
  • Assist in managing user access and system permissions, including onboarding, offboarding, and access updates in alignment with established processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of user accounts, system access, and technology assets, ensuring documentation is complete, current, and compliant with organizational standards.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT and compliance-related policies and procedures, including those related to data privacy, security, and system use.
  • Monitor and support compliance with data privacy and security requirements (e.g., HIPAA, 988 Lifeline standards, and accreditation requirements), identifying gaps and escalating concerns as needed.
  • Assist in conducting internal compliance reviews and audits, ensuring required documentation, records, and evidence are maintained and accessible.
  • Support the investigation and documentation of security incidents, privacy concerns, or compliance issues, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Track and maintain completion of required trainings, including cybersecurity and compliance-related trainings, ensuring staff adherence and proper documentation.
  • Support the IT Manager in maintaining cybersecurity practices, including reinforcing expectations and assisting with staff awareness efforts.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing documentation for audits, accreditation, and external reporting requirements, ensuring readiness and accuracy.
  • Provide input on recurring technical or compliance issues and support the implementation of proactive solutions and process improvements.
  • Communicate clearly with staff regarding IT processes, security expectations, and compliance requirements, providing accessible guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with IT staff and leadership to ensure alignment between technology practices and organizational policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper handling of sensitive data and protected information in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational policies
  • Participate in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support IT operations and organizational compliance efforts.

Qualifications
  • Must complete all required crisis line trainings (minimum 100 hours) upon hire (see Training Section below).
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • American Sign Language (ASL) fluency is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting user access management, system administration, or IT operations processes.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security standards (e.g., HIPAA) and experience supporting compliance-related activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation, track compliance requirements, and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, including technical support, documentation, and compliance tracking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and identify process improvements.
  • Ability to follow established processes and ensure consistency in execution, while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and compliance-related concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain organization and follow-through on assigned responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting audits, documentation reviews, or accreditation processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities, maintaining professionalism across interactions.
  • Access to reliable internet and a desktop or laptop computer capable of utilizing required systems.
  • Applicants must have access to a private, secure workspace that ensures confidentiality, privacy, and freedom from external distractions.

Training
  • Must complete a minimum of 100 hours of required crisis line training upon hire and attend all sessions without any conflicting commitments.
  • New hire training raining will take place August 3 - 7 and August 10 - 11, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.
  • Candidates must be available to attend the entire new hire training program without scheduling conflicts.
  • A more detailed training schedule will be provided to new hires prior to the start of training.

*External hires typically start between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, based on education, qualifications, internal equity, and budget availability.supported through a federal award, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of this funding.
Schedule/Time Commitment
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, typically during standard business hours. Because DeafLEAD provides 24/7 crisis services, occasional work outside of standard business hours - including evenings, weekends, or extended hours - may be required to support coverage and organizational needs.
Each employee will establish a "typical schedule" with their manager. When work is required outside of that schedule, employees should coordinate with their manager to adjust their hours as appropriate. Required meetings may occasionally take place outside of an employee's typical schedule. Flexibility, both on the part of the employee and the agency, is essential to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Work Environment
Collaborative Virtual Workspace: DeafLEAD crisis line counselors work shifts on Zoom alongside fellow counselors and shift supervisors to foster connection, engagement, and support.
Camera Requirement: During training and while on shift, staff are expected to be on camera to actively participate and engage with their peers. Since DeafLEAD fosters an inclusive environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing staff, maintaining clear visibility on camera is important for communication.
Distraction-free Workspace: Staff should work in a dedicated, private workspace with the ability to appear on camera without the use of virtual backgrounds and free from background noise, visual distractions, and interruptions to ensure full engagement with chats, texts, and team interactions. This means working in a private space where conversations cannot be overheard, and where movement, flashing lights, or other visual distractions are minimized.
