Talent Buyer/Booking Manager at Velvet Elk Lounge- Boulder CO

Job description

Velvet Elk Lounge is looking for a Talent Buyer / Booking Manager to lead our live music program. This is a remote position.
About the Venue
Velvet Elk is a music and cultural destination in the heart of Boulder, CO - a place people choose to go, not just somewhere they end up because a show is happening. We're building a brand around great live music, great drinks, and great food, and we want a booker who understands how talent decisions shape that identity, not just fills a calendar.
What You'll Own:
• Source, negotiate, and confirm touring and headliner acts
• Build a calendar that balances draw, brand fit, and venue identity - we're looking for artists who create real pull and elevate the room, not just fill a date
• Maintain and grow relationships with agents and artist representation
• Light coordination with our events/catering lead to keep the full calendar aligned
• Collaborate on booking strategy - outside of a small number of pre-announced prime music dates that are yours to book independently, this is a partnership, not a solo call
What Success Looks Like:
• 2-3 sold-out shows per week (200 tickets @ $15 - $50 depending on act)
• Bookings that build the brand, not just sell tickets - headliners and acts that create genuine draw and reinforce Velvet Elk as a destination
• Fully remote though being around for shows is fun and encouraged!
• Two 45-minute planning meetings per month (currently Wednesdays, flexible based on schedule)
Who We're Looking For:
• Established relationships with agents and touring artists - this role favors existing industry connections over a cold start
• Someone who thinks about programming strategically, not just transactionally
• Strong communicator who can work independently but stay aligned with venue leadership
Interested? Reach out with your background and the kind of talent you'd bring to a room like this.
Compensation: $2,000.00 per month
