What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Record Label Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Record Label Manager, you need a solid understanding of music industry operations, digital marketing, artist management, and contract negotiation, often supported by a degree in music business or related experience. Familiarity with digital distribution platforms (like Spotify for Artists, DistroKid), project management tools, and CRM systems is crucial. Strong communication, networking, and self-motivation are essential soft skills to effectively collaborate with artists and stakeholders from a distance. These abilities ensure the successful promotion and management of artists and releases in a highly competitive digital music landscape.

What is a remote record label?

A remote record label is a music company that operates primarily online, without a centralized physical office. These labels handle artist management, music production, distribution, and promotion virtually, allowing team members and artists to collaborate from anywhere in the world. Remote record labels use digital tools and platforms for communication, file sharing, and project management. This model offers flexibility and can reduce overhead costs, making it accessible for both emerging and established music professionals.

What are some common challenges faced when working remotely for a record label, and how can they be addressed?

Working remotely for a record label often presents challenges such as coordinating across different time zones, maintaining effective communication with artists and team members, and managing digital workflows for music releases and promotions. To address these, it's important to utilize collaboration tools like Slack or Asana, schedule regular check-ins, and maintain clear documentation of project timelines and responsibilities. Proactively building relationships through virtual meetings and being adaptable to fast-paced changes in the industry can also help remote team members stay connected and effective.

Our business segment, iPostal1 Workspace, offers a white label version of iPostal1 for workspaces to use with their office and all the benefits of these digital mailbox services to flexible workspaces current virtual and tenant members as an optional service or bundled as part of a service package.

We are seeking a Business Development Director to join our team. The individual will be responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market share for iPostal1 Workspace solutions, including iPostal1 and iWorkSpaceMail. This role focuses on both “farming” and “hunting” sales activities — cultivating and closing inbound opportunities generated through the company website, referrals, partnerships, and industry events, while also proactively prospecting and developing new business relationships within the coworking, flexible workspace, virtual office, and CMRA industries.

This position requires a highly motivated, relationship-driven sales professional with strong relationship-building skills, workspace industry expertise, and a proven ability to close business and manage a sales pipeline from prospecting through onboarding. The Director of Business Development plays a critical role in executing the company’s growth strategy, strengthening industry relationships, and helping operators increase revenue through digital mail and workspace solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong consultative selling abilities, and a passion for the coworking and flexible workspace industry. This individual should be comfortable working independently in a remote environment and able to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Execute strategic sales initiatives to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets for iPostal1 and iWorkSpaceMail.

  • Manage and close inbound sales opportunities generated through website inquiries, referrals, partnerships, webinars, trade shows, and industry networking activities.

  • Proactively prospect and develop new business opportunities (“hunting”) within the coworking, flexible workspace, virtual office, hospitality, and CMRA sectors.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with workspace operators, strategic partners, franchise groups, and industry influencers.

  • Conduct sales presentations, product demonstrations, and discovery meetings with prospective operators and partners.

  • Develop a strong understanding of operator needs and position iPostal1 Workspace solutions as a strategic revenue and operational enhancement platform.

  • Achieve defined KPIs and sales performance metrics while accurately maintaining pipeline activity, forecasts, and customer records within Freshsales CRM.

  • Negotiate and close sales agreements, partnership opportunities, and strategic initiatives that support company growth objectives.

  • Collaborate with onboarding, operations, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure a smooth customer transition and successful partner launch.

  • Represent iPostal1 Workspace at industry trade shows, conferences, webinars, and networking events as directed by leadership.

  • Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, USPS/CMRA industry developments, and emerging opportunities within the flexible workspace industry.

  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and executive summaries highlighting pipeline activity, performance metrics, opportunities, and challenges.

  • Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, customer engagement, and market positioning.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of success in business development, sales, or account management roles within the coworking, flexible workspace, virtual office, or related industries.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience driving revenue growth, managing strategic accounts, or working directly with workspace operators and partners.

  • Workspace industry experience is required.

  • Experience in coworking, flexible workspace, virtual office, franchise, or CMRA-related environments strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of workspace industry operations, digital mail services, virtual office solutions, and partnership sales models.

  • Demonstrated success in both lead conversion (“farming”) and outbound prospecting (“hunting”).

  • Experience using CRM systems, preferably Freshsales or similar sales management platforms.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a remote work environment.

  • Ability to travel several times per year for trade shows, conferences, partner visits, and company meetings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
