Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying specific emotional and psychological needs to inform individualized care plans.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on emotional challenges related to aging, loss, and significant life transitions.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to create holistic care plans that promote overall well-being.
• Educate family members and clinic staff on effective strategies to enhance the emotional health and quality of life for elderly patients, promoting a supportive environment.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for seniors and their families, guiding them through the emotional complexities associated with end-of-life concerns.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and tailored mental health interventions aimed at optimizing mental acuity for elderly individuals.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Senior LMHC, your primary focus will be on working with elderly clients who are experiencing a range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders. Many of our clients are adapting to significant life changes such as relocation to assisted living facilities, loss of loved ones, or chronic illness. Your expertise will help foster resilience and improve mental health outcomes among this vulnerable population.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• At least four years of demonstrated experience in counseling for geriatric populations, particularly in mental health support.
• Additional training in geriatric mental health and issues related to aging is highly desirable.
• A solid understanding of evidence-based interventions effective in promoting mental well-being among elderly individuals.

Preferred Experience

• Experience providing counseling services to seniors facing a variety of mental health challenges, including those related to aging and bereavement.
• Strong interpersonal and communicative abilities to effectively connect with elderly clients and their families, ensuring comfort and trust.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards pertinent to geriatric mental health counseling.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 65,000 to 95,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a generous sign-on bonus. Other benefits include:
