Remote Rail Testing information

What are some common challenges encountered by professionals in remote rail testing roles, and how are they typically addressed?

Professionals in remote rail testing often face challenges related to maintaining reliable communication with on-site teams, interpreting test data without direct access to equipment, and troubleshooting technical issues from a distance. These challenges are typically addressed through the use of advanced remote monitoring tools, thorough training in diagnostic software, and establishing clear protocols for collaboration with field personnel. Additionally, strong documentation practices and regular virtual meetings help ensure that remote testers stay aligned with project goals and safety standards.

What is the difference between Remote Rail Testing vs Rail Inspection Technician?

AspectRemote Rail TestingRail Inspection Technician
CredentialsTypically requires certifications in non-destructive testing (NDT), geospatial data, or specialized rail testing toolsOften requires certifications in rail safety, track inspection, or NDT
Work EnvironmentPrimarily remote or field-based with specialized equipment, sometimes involving remote data analysisOn-site at rail tracks, performing physical inspections and assessments
Industry UsageUsed by rail companies for large-scale track assessments, often involving remote sensing technologyUsed for routine track inspections, maintenance planning, and safety assessments

Remote Rail Testing and Rail Inspection Technicians both focus on rail safety and maintenance. Remote Rail Testing emphasizes remote data collection and analysis, often involving advanced technology, while Rail Inspection Technicians perform on-site physical inspections. Both roles are essential for ensuring track integrity but differ mainly in work environment and methods.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Rail Testing Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Rail Testing Technician, you need a solid background in mechanical or electrical engineering principles, experience with rail systems, and often a relevant technical certification or degree. Proficiency with ultrasonic or electromagnetic rail testing equipment, data analysis software, and remote monitoring systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of rail infrastructure, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high operational standards.

What is remote rail testing?

Remote rail testing refers to the process of inspecting and evaluating railroad tracks and infrastructure using advanced technologies operated from a distance. This usually involves the use of specialized equipment such as sensors, drones, or automated vehicles to detect track defects, cracks, and other safety concerns without the need for manual, on-site inspections. Remote rail testing helps improve efficiency, safety, and accuracy in maintaining railway systems while reducing the need for human presence in potentially hazardous environments.

Job description

About Us
At Félix, we\'re building the financial ecosystem for Latin immigrants in the U.S., starting with a revolution in remittances. Our core product is an AI-powered chatbot built on WhatsApp, allowing our users to send money home as easily as sending a text message. We leverage cutting-edge technology like AI, blockchain, and stablecoins to make cross-border payments faster, more affordable, and more accessible than ever before.
We are a hyper-growth Series B company, backed by over $100 million in funding from top-tier global investors, including QED, Castle Island, Switch Ventures, HTwenty, Monashees, and General Catalyst Customer Value Fund. This isn\'t just about the numbers; it\'s a testament to the trust our investors have in our vision and our team. Additionally, Félix was selected as an “Endeavour Entrepreneur” and was a recipient of the CrossTech Fintech Startups Award. We are a group of extremely talented and dedicated high-performers, united by our shared obsession with a single goal: empowering our customers. We are all owners of Félix, driven by a bias for action and a true experimentation spirit to get shit done with urgency and focus.
Joining Félix means you will be part of a team building a legacy, a company that will outlive us all. This is a rare opportunity to apply your skills to a deeply meaningful mission—serving a community that has been underserved for too long. We are a team that is fiercely loyal to each other, where radical transparency and constructive feedback are how we grow and push for excellence. We are bold, we care less about what others are doing, and more about creating sustainable value and a product that truly makes our users\' lives better. We are building the future, today.
About the Role
The Disbursements team owns the systems that ensure every dollar we move arrives at its destination safely and efficiently. As we\'ve scaled, so has the complexity of our payout engine. We are looking for a Product Operations Manager to own the execution layer. This is a high-ownership role for someone energized by operational rigor, data precision, and systematic execution. You\'ll be the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, and Business Operations, catching issues before they cost us, building processes that scale, and ensuring every new capability we ship lands cleanly.
Responsibilities
  • New Integrations: Own the end-to-end integration, testing, and validation of new payout rails, managing the process from kickoff through launch. Whether scoping features for engineering or communicating with external stakeholders, you do whatever it takes to launch integrations quickly without sacrificing quality.
  • Rail & Provider Health: Proactively monitor payment rail status, track changes in provider availability and limits, and escalate issues before they reach users.
  • Disaster Recovery: Lead operational response during outages, coordinating teams, pulling impacted transactions, and driving the network back to steady state.
  • Post-Launch Monitoring: After each new rail or feature ships, set up monitoring, surface issues to Product, and elevate the quality of our product offerings.
  • Ongoing Execution: Own intake of short-turnaround cross-functional requests, scope the work, gather partner documentation, and make tickets engineering-ready.
  • Runbook Documentation: Translate recurring processes into clean SOPs that enable faster incident response and eventual delegation to Operations.

Requirements
  • 2–4+ years of experience in product ops, analytics, fintech, technology, or related experience
  • Advanced use of BI tools; strong analytical skills and SQL proficiency are a plus
  • Energized by process and precision, you break complex problems into repeatable systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable operating at the intersection of product and engineering: you can read a technical design doc, ask the right questions about API contracts and system dependencies, and hold your own in architecture discussions.
  • Native or professional fluency in Spanish is required, as you will be deep in the weeds of our core user chat experience. High proficiency in English is required for internal collaboration.
  • Emotional Intelligence & Influence: You can lead without formal authority, building relationships and managing stakeholders across diverse departments and cultures.
  • Bias for Action: You prefer a "done" project over a "perfect" plan and move with the urgency a hyper-growth startup requires.
  • These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary
  • Initial stock options grant
  • Annual performance bonus
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Health, dental, and vision plans
  • Remote work environment, although we have offices in Miami and México City and would love to work in hybrid model if you are up to it.
  • Continuous learning opportunities
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave
  • Empowering opportunities for growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment
