Job Description

As a valued leader on our team, you will lead quantitative research, model development, and analytical support for models used in agency mortgage-backed securities valuation, risk management, and capital markets decision-making.

This role will manage complex modeling initiatives across the model lifecycle, from research and model design through implementation, performance monitoring, validation, and production support. The manager will partner closely with Capital Markets, Market Risk, Model Risk Management, Validation, Technology, and model users to ensure that models are analytically sound, operationally reliable, and responsive to evolving business needs.

Additionally, you will collaborate with department leadership to develop the strategic plan for the function or related business process.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Modeling and Analytics - Quantitative Modeling - Senior Manager role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Lead a team responsible for the research, development, calibration, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of mortgage prepayment, valuation, and market-risk models.
  • Direct Agency MBS prepayment-model research across mortgage products and borrower segments, including analysis of refinancing behavior, loan characteristics, and changing market dynamics.
  • Translate model outputs and complex quantitative findings into actionable insights for Capital Markets, Market Risk, trading, portfolio-management, and senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Manage the model lifecycle in collaboration with Model Risk Management and Validation, including development planning, documentation, performance monitoring, effective challenge, remediation, and resolution of validation or audit findings.
  • Apply understanding of relevant business context to interpret model results, monitor performance, and assess risks.
  • Drive model modernization through advancing analytical frameworks, AI-enabled automation and workflows, enhanced on-demand analytical capabilities, while enabling timely and effective responses to evolving model user needs.
  • Coach team members to communicate technical subject matter clearly and concisely.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences:

  • 6 years of experience in quantitative modeling, model development, mortgage analytics, fixed-income analytics
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, model calibration, backtesting, benchmarking, sensitivity analysis, scenario analysis, and stress testing.
  • Experience supporting models throughout the development, implementation, validation, production, and performance-monitoring lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex quantitative projects and coordinating work across multiple business, risk, validation, and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to both quantitative and nontechnical audiences.
  • Advanced programming skills, particularly in Python, with the ability to develop scalable analytical solutions.
  • Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

Desired Experiences:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent. Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, economics, quantitative finance, or a related quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Expertise in agency MBS, mortgage prepayment modeling, fixed-income valuation, interest-rate risk, or mortgage cash-flow analytics.
  • Knowledge of fixed-rate, adjustable-rate, FHA/VA, reperforming, or nonperforming mortgage products.
  • Prior experience in secondary mortgage market and/or capital market trading
