Remote Pump Design Engineer information

How do Remote Pump Design Engineers typically collaborate with manufacturing and field teams to ensure successful implementation of their designs?

Remote Pump Design Engineers frequently work closely with manufacturing and field service teams through virtual meetings, design reviews, and detailed documentation. They use CAD models, simulation results, and technical specifications to communicate design intent and address manufacturability or installation concerns. Regular collaboration helps resolve issues early, ensures designs meet real-world requirements, and fosters a cohesive workflow despite the remote setup. Utilizing project management and communication platforms is essential for maintaining effective teamwork and project progress.

What is the difference between Remote Pump Design Engineer vs Pump Maintenance Technician?

AspectRemote Pump Design EngineerPump Maintenance Technician
CredentialsBachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, relevant certificationsTechnical diploma or certification in pump maintenance or related field
Work EnvironmentDesign offices, remote collaboration, project planningOn-site at facilities, troubleshooting, repairs
Industry UsageDesign and development of pump systems for various industriesMaintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of pumps in industrial settings

The Remote Pump Design Engineer focuses on designing and developing pump systems, often working remotely with CAD tools and project teams. In contrast, the Pump Maintenance Technician handles on-site repairs and maintenance of pumps. Both roles require technical knowledge, but their daily tasks and work environments differ significantly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Pump Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Pump Design Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, and pump system design, often supported by a relevant engineering degree and experience in pump projects. Familiarity with CAD software (such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD), simulation tools, and industry standards or certifications (like ASME or ISO) is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills, especially for remote collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure precise and innovative pump designs, efficient workflow in remote settings, and successful project outcomes.

What does a Remote Pump Design Engineer do?

A Remote Pump Design Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing pump systems, typically for industries such as oil and gas, water treatment, or manufacturing. Working remotely, they use specialized software to create pump models, select materials, and ensure systems meet performance and safety standards. They collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams virtually, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed. Their role also involves preparing documentation and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Job description

Background

We are rapidly expanding in the Denver, Colorado area!

Ramon.Space is making the final frontier possible by accelerating the future of space computing by bringing resilient, Earth-like digital infrastructure to orbit. Our cutting-edge, software-defined technology equips satellites with advanced storage, processing, and connectivity capabilities - powering smart, efficient, and fully adaptable missions across communications, 5G NTN, earth observation, and space-based data centers.

As we scale our U.S. presence, we’re deepening our work with both commercial operators and U.S. government partners who are driving the next generation of space innovation. From mission-critical national security applications to high-growth commercial constellations, our proven computing platforms deliver the performance, reliability, and flexibility needed to unlock new capability in orbit. Selected by the world’s leading satellite operators, Ramon.Space is defining how the industry builds, deploys, and evolves digital missions in space.

We are a global team of 100+ employees across the US, United Kingdom, and Israel. If you are looking to make an impact, come and join our team.

Ramon.Space is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analog & Power Engineer with extensive experience in analog circuit design and power electronics for space applications. This role focuses on designing robust, high-efficiency power delivery and analog front-end solutions for advanced spaceborne computing systems. If you are great at what you do, enjoy working in a startup-like environment, and are passionate about developing reliable, high-performance electronics for space, we want to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the design and development of analog and power subsystems across all product lifecycle stages: from requirements definition through design, bring-up, qualification, and release.
  • Architect and design power distribution networks, including DC-DC converters, point-of-load regulators, sequencing, and protection circuits for space applications.
  • Perform detailed analog and power analysis, including stability, efficiency, thermal performance, worst-case circuit analysis, and derating.
  • Drive component selection and validation for high-reliability and radiation-tolerant environments.
  • Define and validate power integrity and noise performance, ensuring compliance with system-level requirements.
  • Develop test plans and execute hands-on bring-up, validation, and debugging of analog and power hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with digital, RF, mechanical, and system engineers to ensure robust cross-domain integration.
  • Support environmental and qualification testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, radiation) and correlate results with design expectations.
  • Present technical content in design reviews and contribute to peer design evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in analog and power electronics design, preferably in space or high-reliability applications.
  • Strong expertise in power supply design (GaN Technology for Power, DC-DC converters, LDOs, power distribution, sequencing, and protection circuits).
  • Solid background in analog circuit design for command and telemetry as well as signal conditioning, filtering, sensing, and control loops.
  • Experience performing worst-case circuit analysis, stability analysis, and thermal considerations.
  • Familiarity with power integrity, noise analysis, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
  • Experience designing for high-reliability or space environments, including derating and component selection.
  • Proficiency with schematic and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer).
  • Hands-on lab experience (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, network analyzers, debugging complex boards).
  • Experience supporting hardware bring-up, validation, and environmental testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Advantages

  • Experience with radiation-tolerant or radiation-hardened power design techniques
  • Familiarity with space industry standards (NASA, MIL-STD, ECSS, IPC)
  • Knowledge of FPGA, digital, or mixed-signal system integration considerations
  • Familiarity with modeling/simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, SIMPLIS, MATLAB)
  • Experience with EMI/EMC compliance and mitigation strategies
  • Background in high-efficiency or compact power design (e.g., density optimization, magnetics design)

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Benefits at Ramon.Space include medical, dental, vision, PTO, holidays, FSAs, 401(k) match, short term and long-term disability, and parental leave.
  • Flexible hybrid working model with opportunities for remote work. The office is located in the Denver Tech Center.
