Job description

Job Title:

Public Health Instructional Designer / Trainer (1099 / Partโ€‘Time)

Job Location: Chautauqua County, New York (Onsite Required)
Must reside within a fourโ€‘hour travel radius due to variable training schedules.

Must be willing to travel throughout Chautauqua County to provide inโ€‘person instruction. Some virtual instructorโ€‘led delivery may be required using standard video conferencing platforms/VOIP.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Partโ€‘time, 1099 Contractor
Hours vary based on training schedule, county needs, and availability.

Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $50 โ€“ $60
Stafford Consulting Company (SCC) offers competitive compensation based on experience and subjectโ€‘matter expertise.

Travel Required:

Yes. Travel throughout Chautauqua County is required to provide onsite instruction.
Must be able to reliably commute and maintain flexible availability for varying training locations and times.

Basic Minimum RequirementsExperience:

Candidates must have:

  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, adult learning, curriculum development, or workforce development.

  • 1+ year of experience delivering inโ€‘person or virtual training, workshops, or presentations.

  • Direct experience working in public health, community health, environmental health, human services, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training in one or more of the following publicโ€‘healthโ€‘aligned areas:

    • Safety in the field and workplace

    • Deโ€‘escalation techniques

    • Critical conversations

    • Conflict resolution

    • Customer service / public interaction

    • Team building

    • Resilience and stress management

    • Other workforce development topics relevant to public health

  • Experience tailoring training for diverse staff groups, including field staff, administrative staff, and clinical or communityโ€‘based teams.

Education:
  • Minimum of a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Public Health, Behavioral Science, Organizational Development, Human Services, or a related field.

  • Equivalent experience may be considered.

Professional Certifications (Preferred):
  • ATD APTD/CPTD, ISPI, or similar instructional design or training certifications.

  • Any relevant stateโ€‘level training, facilitation, or public health workforce development credentials.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masterโ€™s degree or higher in Instructional Systems Design, Adult Education, Public Health Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Organizational Psychology, or related field.

  • Experience designing scenarioโ€‘based learning, roleโ€‘play activities, and applied skills training for public health environments.

  • Familiarity with state and local public health operations, community health programs, or human services agencies.

  • Experience collaborating with SMEs, supervisors, and leadership to customize training content.
