While the majority of our employees are hybrid, the following classifications drive our current minimum onsite requirements:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • Query and analyze data related to quality measures with the goal of accurately reporting findings to other departments and Executive Leadership for making informed decisions.
  • Designs, implements and maintains data extracts from enterprise data stores for both internal and external customers.
  • Assists with the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), ensuring scalable architecture, data integrity, operational stability, and continuous enhancement to meet evolving business needs. Provide solutions based on BCBSAZ SQL database design and implementation standards, corporate policies, industry best practices, and customer-based business requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience in computer programming (SQL), query design, data management technologies and techniques, and databases (Applies to Level 1)
  • 2 years of experience in computer programming (SQL), query design, data management technologies and techniques, and databases (Applies to Level 2)
  • 3 years of experience in computer programming (SQL), query design, data management technologies and techniques, and databases (Applies to Level 3)

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Health informatics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Business intelligence or other related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Work Experience
  • Familiarity with AHCCCS Medicaid, NCQA HEDIS, and CMS Medicare Stars Ratings is desirable
  • Experience with extensive data analysis on healthcare payer data across multiple functional areas (e.g. Membership, Provider, Lab, Medical and Pharmacy Claims etc.,)
  • 2 years of experience in working with healthcare systems
  • 4 years of experience in computer programming, query design, and databases
  • 4 years of experience with data management technologies and techniques
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL and/or SSIS, Snowflake and Tableau/Power BI

Preferred Education
  • Master's Degree in Data Analytics, Health informatics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Business intelligence or other related field

Preferred Certifications
  • MS SQL or SSIS Certification

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creates and maintains meaningful analytics, visualization, reports and presentations most appropriate to users based on their role that enable insights to actionable next steps
  • Creates ad-hoc reports and provides analytic support, using project management tools to gather user requirements and confirm user acceptance
  • Suggests and implements automation of business processes, such as on-demand reports and interactive dashboards; identifies and implements opportunities to streamline and improve processes
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly performance measure reporting
  • Design, implement and maintain data extracts from enterprise data stores for both internal and external customers
  • Design & Implement Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) solutions including SQL programming based on BCBSAZ database design and implementation standards
  • Design and code systems, programs, and interfaces, using the appropriate structured programming techniques and programming languages
  • Oversee and mentor junior analysts
  • Track and resolve any processing issues
  • Analyze files and map data from one system to another
  • Develop programs, time estimates and project schedules based on prioritization and business requirements
  • Demonstrate solid time management skills
